My contribution for this week’s Homestead photography competition by @knowledge-seeker is a little different than most. Yes the smell of cinnamon and apples and squash and fresh baked bread is what most people think about when they think of the flavors of fall. But this is my take on my favorite part of all.
Every fall I purchase pounds of fresh apples from local farmers and make apple cider vinegar. It is the simplest recipe ever - it only takes apples and water. But for some reason the smell of rotting fruit always reminds me of Fall. And during the fermentation process this batch of apple cider vinegar also has a hint of effervescence that they east is giving off as it consumes the sugars from the apples.
In a few more weeks we will have enough apple cider vinegar to last us for the year and enough to get away to friends. That, to me, is the essence of Fall - family, friendship, Thanksgiving, gifts. All wrapped up in a bucket of rotting fruit. 😂
Welcome back to steemit @aibell! This was very interesting take on the theme. We use a lot of apple cider vinegar, but have never tried making it before. It would be interesting to try though. Great Job!
