Keeping EVERYTHING In Order & Still Being Productive
Over the last few months I am constantly asked, or receive comments, asking me how I do what I do and how I am able to take on so much work, steemit and household projects and still have time to sleep.
I have always been a 100% kind of person. When I worked for the newspaper many years ago, it was nothing for me to put in over 70 hours of work; when I was on a salary based on a 40-hour per work week.
When I was an administrative assistant for a large utility company I thought nothing of working 12 hour days and being available to my boss after hours for paperwork issues and concerns.
After the kids left home and I quit my 9-to-5 job two years ago, I centered my focus on moving into our new home and setting it up; nesting to get the house just perfect. I took my time cleaning everything, organizing the kitchen cupboards and making sure everything was in its place.
Before steemit, I spent most of my home time learning to garden; and once I learned about plants and herbs, I dove in head first. I started growing vegetables and herbs that I never gave a second thought to before; as I would buy them at the grocery store.
I would putter with some writing gigs and continued ghost writing but due to my health and loss of passion for writing, I slumped. I stopped taking on jobs and writing assignments and literally just survived day to day. I was bordering the fence of confessing I was becoming depressed.
Instead of confronting the depression hole I was spiraling down, I subconsciously made the choice to continue the free-fall into melancholy life.
But mid-July of 2017, I received an email from a prepping website and newsletter. This email explained what steemit was. It spoke of the potential writing and blogging possibilities. It gave a thorough and exciting pretense of cryptocurrency.
So in between cleaning the house, puttering in the garden and greenhouse and all my other household tasks and chores, I began writing a few posts. Steemit has MOTIVATED me to another level of life! It has given me my passion back for success, writing and being involved.
Being A Stay At Home Wife
I will be the first to admit I am VERY fortunate to be able to stay home while my husband earns the household salary. Every day I am appreciative to this decision we made a couple of years ago. I know my husband likes it too. We have a nice home, a little parcel of property and he knows I am always here to take care of the BIG and the little things.
Being able to be home as much as I am, has opened up so many possibilities of DIY, gardening and working online as a career.
Steemit: Every Aspect
Blogging
I try to make a post at least everyday. I have missed a few days here and there, but nothing to be worried about.
I love to write but have found that some days I want to comment more than anything else.
I have loved how steemit pushes me and motivates me to try new skills.
Curation, Stewards Of Gondor, Gmuxxybot, The Golden Ambassadors & More
As an @fulltimegeek Stewards Of Gondor, I take this responsibility very seriously. FTG has given me the power to do what he would want to have done on steemit and to advance the platform. I comment and reply; all the while still doing my own daily post(s).
As a recent Gmuxxybot curator, which I also take 100% seriously, I continue reading posts looking for original content. I have enjoyed this new responsibility and it really makes me stop and think when reading a post. Plus it has given me a whole new perspective about image sourcing, copy/paste and plagiarism concerns.
I started my own delegation called the Golden Ambassadors; just my way of continuing to give back. I have three people I have delegated to with plans for more.
I have daily and weekly events where I spread the SOG love all over steemit to unsuspecting recipients.
I am still the meet and greet person for the Homesteadersonline community, moderator for the group on Discord and have started getting involved in other smaller projects to help incoming steemians.
How do I do all this? AWESOME time management and being my own worst critic. I have NO PLANS on slowing down any time soon.
Manual Curation
I have always done my own UPvotes and curation. I have no desire to use an auto-bot to do my voting for me. I prefer the personal touch- always will.
So every UPvote I give, comes from the click of the mouse from me.
It may not seem like much, but I like the personal touch of the person who took the time to post to know I took the time to read.
Qurator
As the curator and DQ writing for qurator, I am allowed the time to scour dozens of posts ever day finding just the right ones for the day's newsletter. This has been great for my curating skills and for learning about new steemians and topics.
Homesteading, New Skills & Gardening
I have great plans to expand my garden this coming year and have even gone as far as to have someone help me. I am not slowing down on steemit by any means. I am having more help around here.
I will grow my garden, add new plants and herbs like never before and I know all of this I can record and post about on steemit.
I will continue to learn more skills and share with you all here too.
So when people ask me, how do you do it all? All I can say is passion... love for steemit... and the smile all of it brings to my face; whether helping a new steemian to creating a new a recipe in the Golden D kitchen. EVERY aspect makes me smile from deep within.
You are amazing in all you are able to achieve
I to am a 100% or more sort of person but seeing all you do amazes me
I to do probably 95% of my upvoting manually I have a few on auto but I generally end up visiting and commenting as well
Stay strong and Steem on
Tip!
Thank you for the tip!!
And thank you for the compliment too! Yes I am a very hands-on person; and it carries over to here.
Most welcome
And I am pretty much hands on as well

Lovely writing!
Wow...i love this. Steemit is a platform where you can earn money and still have alot of time for yourself and family. Steemit also brings out the hiding potential of writing and blogging in you. Like you said "*...and loss of passion for writing, I slumped".
@goldendawne, i love you post, its an encouragement to me.
Thank you! SO happy I could encourage you.I know some days it can be a relentless struggle but in the end of you stick to it, there are rewards and MANY more good days to be had than not.
I think you are amazing. You are head first into all sorts of things and still find time to mentor others!
I tend to JUMP first then look back! I've always been like that, even my parents admit it. But hey, they are the ones who instilled my work ethic.. so this IS ALL THEIR fault- lol
And thank you!
All that and Sourdough bread! Amazing and inspirational story! You are definitely busy steemian for sure.
yeah and I just put some focaccia (made with sour dough starter) into the oven! Post coming tomorrow about it. Plus since hubby is Sicilian, I am making a favorite dipping sauce for the bread that he'll get when we go to his friend's Italian restaurant. Made with olive oil, garlic, basil and oregano! Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!
I love Garlic I use way to much on just about everything. Sounds great!
Wow Amazing. I try to get as much Steemit as possible between work, leisure and resting but my hours seem hardly enough!
You and the rest of SOG seem to to be everywhere and you have so many things that you are doing aside from being a golden ray of sunshine to new people like us.
That's what I like about Steemit. It has indeed rekindled our drive to be creative again. While drugged on Facebook and Youtube I was lazy in creating content as I could readily just watch a view, share a meme or an article that I liked but I was not creating.
In Steemit there are so many great articles but it also pushes you to wamt to create your own. Primary motivation can be either you want want to just create and share your talent or money.
What's important you are making.
Thank you for putting in a lot of effort in Steemit and with you around it is a whole lot better.
Yeah the SOGs are everywhere! It's amazing what a great group of people they are!
YES! It has definitely given me new life, new horizons that are within reach and a such a positive outlook on life in general.
I would love to see a timeline of your day and how you manage your time. I’m very awful at that.
I actually did a post on here maybe in November or December of last year; and after seeing it... I was thinking WOW! But it keeps me on task and organized more than you can imagine.
I’m a head first person too. The trouble is that sometimes I burn up the energy quickly and then lose interest. But I am starting to feel quite a bit of creative energy by writing regularly again. Writing was an early love and passion of mine, and something I’ve done in spurts over the years, but I’m tknking the added incentive of steemit might help keep me going. Sustainability is key!
I try to pace myself but some days are more crazy than others so I have just tried to train myself to roll with it. Not as easy as you would think going from running full steam ahead to slower? EEK! yeah, not so easy.
My competition with you this week hasn't been easy, but I'm feeling pretty confident this week (though I have to admit I might slip this week because the amount of effort I'm putting in isn't sustainable on my end).
Keep up the great work. I know together we're building better communities and regardless of who wins week to week the work we're putting in now is making for a better Steemit tomorrow.
Thanks for sharing this information with us and my wife wears me out because she's all in on everything as well and is able to function quite well on only 5 - 6 hours of sleep. Don't know how you ladies can be 100% all the time!
Oh yeah... our friendly competition!
I've been a little off yesterday and today- had some household things needing attention, so you may still be in the running to bump me!
EXACTLY! We're all here for a particular reason that FTG saw in us- we are united to succeed together!
Haha I wish I made it as a Steward of Gondor. Maybe I'll make it on FTG's radar one day!
I cannot thank you enough for this article. I have been feeling very overwhelmed with trying to get my tech sites up and running in order to spread my knowledge to those who want to get back to the land.
I have been growing my own food since I was a kid and see that people want to “get back to basics”, which is what I teach.
That being said, I am not very strong in the writing department. Do you have any insite as to how I may improve myself?
Thank you!
Find me on Discord chat and we can talk some if you'd like. I have been mentoring incoming members.
Feeling overwhelmed is normal, especially if you're not sure how steemit works with UPvotes, etc. I always take a deep breath every morning and just dive in. Taking many breaks throughout the day helps too.
Well done @goldendawne you certainly achieve a lot in a short amount of time. Good luck for the future and I look forward to reading more of your posts. Great post!
Thank you! I hope my advice to you last week helped some!
Good luck with your steemit too!
It certainly did @goldendawne and things have been going well ever since. I just wish I had more time to spend on Steemit. I’m trying to work smarter instead of longer
This post has been deemed resteem & upvote worthy by your friendly @eastcoaststeem ran by Steemian @chelsea88
THANK YOU again for stopping by! I always appreciate it!
You are everywhere on Steemit! I have no idea how you pull it off. I can easily spend 8 hrs a day on steemit, but get absolutely nothing done. Your time management and dedication must know no limit. Congratulations and thanks for all your help and guidance to us newbies.
lol- yeah I have heard that many times about me being ALL over steemit! But I wouldn't have it any other way!
I try to do a lot of things and end up doing very little of everything. In between my slow internet and other issues. I think living passion be it online and offline is tricky. But I am happy with whatever I have got so far. We are young couple so too early to let my husband quit embassy job and get a farm. But I am trying gardening in space available to me. :)

We aren't on our final property yet either- we're hoping to be there in the next year or two, then I can really go crazy with my herbs and garden!
Wow ... you're a great housewife ...
I am fascinated with your passion that @goldendawne ....
Thank you! I know my husband appreciates ALL my efforts too!
You are indeed the number one wife...
My inspiration..
So glad Steemit "has given me my passion back for success, writing and being involved." i'm new here but beginning to find the same. Last eek I wrote my first poem for decades and a couple of days ago wrote my first ever haiku.
I had no idea I'd end up doing that when I joined!
Having spent years in internet marketing and online ventures where most mornings checking my inbox, FB etc. drained my energy I now found I'm uplifted each day by responding to commenters, checking my feed and responding to posts I like. I still can't quite believe I'm earning money doing this!
I can't imagine ever being as productive as you are though. You're in a small inspiring minority I feel! 😍
It's amazing some days what steemit can bring out in you. I know I love finding new topics to write about and it helps me broaden my horizons as well as learning new skills along the way.
This is an amazing story, I try to write, but words just seem to leave and I end up writing short, I am more of an artist and photographer, which is my passion. I will follow you as I Know I will learn from you.
If you want to chat, find me on Discord and maybe I can help you organize your posts and thoughts.
you have one of the warmest souls ever, @goldendawne! your enthusiasm is felt through the wifi for sure! (LOL)
this is truly an incredible community - we keep saying it over and over, to the point where it seems redundant and obvious, but it is a refreshing change from the world of most other social media where the point seems to be getting attention and validation, versus building connections.
you have been a great example and inspiration for so many of us, and continue to be. thank you for staying true to yourself! <3
I appriciate the time and effort that you put in here. You encouraged and supported me from day one, and I credit your effort with the comfort and confidence I gained so quickly. Thank you.
