Hello guys..
In Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency in Bayanan Village, daha south district, Nagara is famous for typical crafts from clay pottery. The main ingredients of this craft are clay and sand. unique of this craft is stirring the main ingredients that are still mixed in the traditional way that is in stir with the foot.
Usually the pottery is processed into a savings in the form of fruits, chickens, or even more trend forms such as Pikachu, Doraemon, etc.In addition to savings there is also a musa (the process of forming gold), kitchen (stove), kapit (place tambuni). The price is relatively affordable and its unique shape makes this handicraft good for souvenirs for those who visit the upper river south.
The handicraft which is the inheritance of the ancestors of the villagers of Bayanan hundreds of years ago, that the pottery becomes very valuable, not merely seen from the function, form and price, but there is a cultural value of a work, because that is until now still survive , and we will continue to defend and try to regenerate to young people as successors of inheritance, although it is very difficult to meet a young craftsman.
The cultivation of the Bayanan Village Government is endlessly supported by several agencies that are competent in the field of improving the welfare of the people, trying to develop, hoping that the pottery will always exist and continue to grow.
Making process.
For making pottery craft community still use traditional way. by using traditional tools also early stage they are looking for a clay that is slightly yellowish, why so because the clay is easy to form and texture softer compared to other clay. Then they mix the clay with water as it is forming the dough to make the cake.
of all the processes I think, the formation process is the most difficult, here we are required to understand well using clay dough into a work. It takes quiet and good luck to make a pot of clay. But for the pottery craftsmen here every part of the process is not a problem, shrewdly from the fingers to form a teapot and jar which later will be the result of beautiful handcraft.
The next process is to dry the clay that has been in the form of this process takes about 2 days depending on the weather, this process is necessary to make the clay dry and solid. the next process after drying the kettle and the jars are burned using hot husk (hot ash).
The last process is to beautify the jug or jar. Many materials that can be used to make jars be beautiful, among others, with plitur or by painting according to taste and order.
