We homeschooled both of our children.

One of the best parts about it was we could take more time on the tougher subjects and blow through the areas they were more proficient in.

You can teach them reasoning critical thinking and independence. Things rarely even glossed over in traditional institutions of "learning." If one can do those three things there are hardly any subjects that cannot be learned. Parents who are intimidated by the more advanced science and math subjects can always seek out tutors or others more proficient than themselves . (Something that publicly schooled students also do I might add.)

Also it's a plus that I didn't have my children in a prussian style indoctrination day camp.
