Homeschool Life

As stated in some of my other posts I am homeschooled and have been for two years. I am a student at American School Online. Because I am not homeschooled through my local high school I have to pay, or should I say my wonderful mother has to pay for me to do my school work.

The cost for doing the school all online is $900 per year. The first year I was homeschooled I took this route. I failed miserably. I actually never did it and only finished one class. My mom would always get on to me about it but I just never had a drive to do it. Focusing on the work on the computer was absolutely horrendous. I never could sit and just look at the computer and do the work. I would cheat and find ways around doing the work no matter how easy it was. Me and my mom would fight about it and then I would work for a week on school and then quite doing it. Eventually I procrastinated the whole year away and I only got one class done. My mom paid for a three month extension and I told her I would do it. As soon as my school loaded all my classes back up I was on it. Everyday for a month I was doing it. Then I looked at all the work I still had left and I told my mom that I could not manage to get all of it done. She agreed and we talked about what was to be done about $1000 plus being wasted. I told her I would help around the house and with the baby more and that I would call the school and ask to switch to paper and book work, and I did just that.

The paper and book classes are $1,300 per year. I only need one year to graduate. I knew that if I could actually sit down and see the material right in front of me that I could get it done. I started a month a go and have already completed my psychology class. It was legitimately the most easiest class I have ever taken. Then they sent me Writing 2. I am pretty good at writing I think and I do enjoy it so I should be fine. They also sent be Planning Your Career and that's also and easy class. So far I really enjoy the classes and I have been getting them done. The school gives me another book each time I turn in all my exams for the previous class. They gave me the Writing class as a bonus class so I could work on it while doing the others because you can't breeze through writing no matter how much you love it. I am thankful that the school offers the paper based classes, if they didn't I don't have a clue what I would do.

Homeschooling is not for everyone. It is hard and it takes time and dedication. You can't procrastinate and think that everything will be okay when your time runs up. I learned that the hard way. If you or your child are looking into homeschooling options, just based on my opinion, I would chose a paper based school option. Looking at the material works for me and listening to friends and such I think it works for a lot of people. You just have to take your time and not get to discouraged. Keep trying and don't get too overwhelmed, because in the end it will all be worth it. Finishing school and getting your diploma will be your reward for all of your hard work. I can't wait to graduate and go on to college and follow my dreams and pay my supermom back for all the money she payed out for me to go to school.

I hope that someone gets something out of this post and it can help someone. Thank you all for reading!
