I am currently homeless, living in my van in Salt Lake City, UT.
I can't afford to get a motel here and have had no luck finding a cheap place to rent as everyone wants First/Last and most want a deposit as well. I did some checking and Uber nor Lyft have rental car programs here. Even if they did, Utah law, requires you to have a Utah Driver License to drive for them. In order to change my License over I have to have a place to live and some kind of mail/rental agreement to verify address. Also when I change my license over I will have to get a Utah Concealed Carry Permit as my Alabama one will no longer be valid.
I wished I could afford to install a small generator and air conditioner in my van.....or at least install a few extra batteries an inverter and a small air conditioner. So I could at least sleep at night. It was three am before it cooled off enough in my van to sleep last night and at 4:30 I was wide awake.....always wake around that time.....one of the side effects of driving a semi truck for 14 years.
Or better yet I wished I had a small RV I could live in, I think I could find somewhere affordable to put it if I had one.

As mentioned in an earlier post the donations I have already received towards my [Car Fund] went to fix my van enough to make it to Salt Lake City. That included a couple tires, a rim, fluids and a small uhaul trailer so I wouldn't overload my van and it break down again.

If I decide to stay here I will post more pics. I think I may head to Vegas (leaving most of my stuff here in storage for now) and see if I can find anywhere to live/a job there......Even the ronchiest motels in Salt Lake (ones I wouldn't let my enemies stay in) are too expensive for me. I am only about 5 hours from Vegas so if I don't find something in the next few days I will head down there I think....at least to check it out for a few days and see if I can find something....plus Uber and Lyft both have rental car programs in Las Vegas. I have lived there before, the heat will be brutal so I might do some research before I head down.....just not sure what the heck to do at this point.
Nothing in Vegas will be cheaper that's for sure. I lived there for 4.5 years. However, you may luck out if you can get one of the rental car programs.
Kind of what I was thinking. Thing is in Utah I would have to change my license/ccp over before i Could drive for Uber/Lyft (State Law) where as in Nevada I might not have to. I am gonna wait here a week or two and see if I can get something going....if not i will research Nevada before I head that way.

I have a FB friend in Vegas and another near Reno....I have asked them both if they can spot me a place to crash....if either say yes (before I find a place) I will head that way ASAP.

I have traveled all over Iowa and while it is a pretty state, it is downright ugly as fuq compared to Utah.....just saying! You would love it here.....bring @clevercreator with you when you come.....lol!
