RE: How to be productive when you work from home

in #home7 years ago

Working from home is what me and my co workers (including my employer) have considered for a while now. Basically we think that we are paying rent just to sit at some place together while we do not really need that. We could use someone's house to gather and talk about important stuff from time to time and we are not a company which has customers that visit as it's not needed.

BUT, we all do have wifes/children/pets which could distract us. If you're home, it's alot easier to do something which will only take u a couple of minutes to help your family or friends with something. Plus, family or friends will choose you to call during an emergency instead of someone else who could be free as well. They would not understand that you're not free even though you are at home wearing your pyjamas.

It's hard to tell family members/friends to leave you alone and that they have to respect your work, but we considered that this might be too hard to tell them in cases of emergencies. Don't get me wrong, someone should always be able to drop their work in some kinds of emergencies, but not all of them. Do you have any idea's about this? Especially in the case of a company, what if 80% manages to get it working but the remaining 20% fails to do this? Wouldn't that hurt a company?
