And here you go! Mama's Benignit has been served.
It is so yummy and so satisfying.
Benignit, binignit, benegnit, binegnit, benegnet, Filipinos may spell it differently but we are one in preparing this native food every lenten season or during the commemoration of the Passion of Jesus Christ.
It is being in tradition that Christians has to go through fasting in this season, we are not into meat and can not eat lavishly of the food we wanted in our usual days and so, this native food (for snacks) is so popular eaten by many in this season instead.
For those who would like to try this, here are the ingredients (quantity were not included coz it varies);
- rice (that malagkit one)
- meat from the buri palm (we call it in Cebuano as Landang)
- sago (you may have in different colors)
- saging (saba banana)
- kamote (sweet potato)
- coconut milk
- sugar
Prepare/cook it in a moderate heat. This will be cooked from landang, to rice, to kamote, to saging, to sago, to coconut milk to sugar until everything has been softened and cooked. The level of sugar depends to your degree of preference.
