To hold... Or to HODL, what's the question?

You: Maybe you should HODL.
Me: What in the hell is HODL?

There's a lot of slang in the world, and the crypto world is no different. I'm sure you've seen plenty of brand new words in crypto spaces that you're sure are secret code formed by the government to spy on crypto traders.

I'm sorry to disappoint, but it's just slang and acronyms.

So what is HODL? I'm sure you've guessed by now that it means 'hold'. It was born as a drunken headline for a post about Bitcoin in 2013, titled 'I AM HODLING'. Be careful what you say on the internet... It can and will be held against you!
BTW... You can thank the person with the username GameKyuubi on bitcointalk.org for the term HODLING.

Some now even use HODL for Hold On for Dear Life. Basically the same thing in crypto.

Now let's get to the less funny acronyms, then slang...

Acronyms:
FUD - Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt (You should have FUD concerning any Twitter advice)

FOMO - Fear Of Missing Out (When the price of a coin goes up 2% and you're biting your fingernails wondering if you should buy in)

ATH - All Time High (something I've never experienced with any coin I own)

TA - Technical Analysis (Twitter! 😂)

JOMO - Joy Of Missing Out (When you miss out on some good news about a coin, but it shits the bed and prices fall)

BTFD - Buy The Fucking Dip

Slang:
Bear - Someone who thinks the price will fall, then they'll buy

Bull - Someone who thinks the price will rise, then they'll sell

Whale - Someone who's 'HODLING' a lot of a coin (not me)

Moon - Super high price increase (the elusive creature, synonymous with unicorn)

Altcoin - Any coin, but Bitcoin

Shitcoin - A coin with no real world value or use (some also say 'Any coin, but Bitcoin')

Short - Selling quickly for small profit

Long - HODLING for big profit

Pump - Sharp price increase (what I consistently miss)

Dump - Sharp price decrease (I'm good at these)

P&D - Pump and Dump - People buying tons of a coin, sparking interest so it's price begins to spike, then they dump their huge amounts at the higher price.

Candle - The green or red lines representing price movement on a coins chart

Dildo - Long red or green candles

There's a lot more, but that's enough to keep you at the cool table.
