Youtube is turning more into a netflix. I'm glad Dtube came along to take it's place.
That's exactly their plan. They are being more stingy with their money and will just keep paying the bigger channels and slowly turn into a newer version of television. This pushes the smaller guys away though and that's why we have sites like Steemit and Dtube emerging.

I think when you push a video with a suicide victim to the trending page, but punish smaller channels for various reasons that pale in comparison. I think as creators you have to find a better platform. Just my 2 cents anyways. Glad the twins decided to make the jump to Steem.
