Earning Crypto On A Shoe-string Budget (part 1)

in #hivepizza3 years ago (edited)

I don't know what your financial situation is, nor does it matter to me, but right now a lot of people are very uncertain about the crypto market. There are countless bearish posts calling for a crypto winter, and countless bullish posts calling for a parabolic recovery. Up or down, it doesn't really matter to me... because I have no dry powder left. With the large corrections and the pandemic once again shutting down my restaurant, I don't have a lot of wiggle room. However what has become very clear to me over the past couple months that you don't even need money to invest in crypto. I have scoured the corners of the crypto universe and am slowly assembling a plethora of ways of acquiring free (or almost free) cryptocurrencies and that is what I am going to share with you today. Consider this your Lonely Planets guide to investing in cryptocurrency on a shoestring budget. So where do we begin....

In Part 1 of this "series" we will be talking about ways to earn passively with little or no effort involved. I am currently amassing a list of P2E games, but I have not tried all the ones on the list yet so I don't feel comfortable sharing them. I will waste my time on some of them so that you don't have to. Anyways, that's not the subject of todays post...

Disclaimer
If there is 1 link attached to a project, that is just a regular ole link, nothing attached. If there are 2 links, one will be my referral link, the other will be just the regular ole link so that you can make a choice. No games, just wanted to be upfront. They will be labeled accordingly.

1. Brave

Link: Brave
Token: BAT
Type: Browser
Whitepaper

Whether you are in crypto or not everyone should be using Brave in my opinion. This browser is taking on the giants and slowly gaining more and more grounds. They have found a way to monetize your attention. Hence their token name "Basic Attention Token". On Brave you can decide on the amount of ads that you see. You can choose from 0-10 ads an hour. And this is where the passive earning comes into play. You earn BAT for every ad that is shown to you. I would also like to specify that this is not an ad like on YouTube that you have to sit there and wait for the "skip" button to show up (The ad blocker actually blocks YouTube ads by the way). This is a tiny popup in the bottom right corner of your screen that is just text. No video, no sound, just something that says something along the lines of "Hey, cool deal here if you'd like". As soon as you click that X, you've just earned some BAT. Keep in mind that you earn very little... I have been using Brave for the better parts of 4 months maybe and I think I've accumulated about 6 BAT. Not making a fortune using Brave, but you earn these by doing literally nothing different than you were doing before. According to my Brave home screen Brave has blocked 35,987 ads and trackers, saved me 862.3MB of bandwidth and saved me 30 minutes from watching ads. Worth.

2. Presearch

Link: Referral Normal
Token: PRE
Type: Search engine
Whitepaper

Presearch is a search engine... don't really know what else to say about it. Every 24 hours you are entitled to 30 paid searches. Every search gives you 0.0508 of a PRE token. Presearch has chrome and brave extensions so once again you will be earning slowly as you go abouts your everyday internet exploring. I've been using Presearch for about 3 months and I have acquired about 80 or so PRE tokens. HOWEVER, there is something that you must know about Presearch... in order to withdraw your tokens you have to accumulate 1000 PRE tokens. So this could take several years... however once you finally withdraw those tokens could be worth quite a bit. 1000 PRE tokens right now is worth 380 USD, and I can only hope that this project will keep growing as I slowly accumulate. There is a way of "cheating" where you can accumulate as much as you can for a while, then go on Kucoin, buy the remaining tokens you require to get to 1000, transfer it to your PRE wallet, then withdraw it all... But I kind of like the forced hold of their tokens. You can also stake your PRE in what they Keyword Staking. Lets say you own a company that makes, I don't know, cat shoes. You can take your PRE tokens and bid for the word "Cat". If you win the bid, every single time someone on Presearch types in the word "Cat" you can make an ad for your website, and that will be the first result. I hope that made sense, my wife is on the phone with her sister right behind me and talking SUPER loud. If it didnt make sense, Presearch does a better job explaining it here

3. Reddit (r/cryptocurrency)

Link: Reddit
Token: MOON
Whitepaper: Can't seem to find it... (I'll edit this later)

Disclaimer this subreddit is a great place to find information, and also a TERRIBLE place. Always do your own research and do not just yolo into any project being shilled on it. There are tons of upvote bots that make it look like there is a huge community behind projects but really its absolute garbage.
If for some reason you were unaware, reddit has a subreddit dedicated to cryptocurrency. If you're into crypto and you have a reddit account, I can only assume that you know about this. However this will be for the ones that are unaware. On this subreddit they have their own cryptocurrency called MOONs. MOONs are rewarded for community participation. From upvotes, comments, to posts, any thing that rewards "karma" will reward you with moons. I believe you are allowed to earn moons from 1 post, and 50 comments per day. There are people making bank putting out decent content and being active in the community. You will often stumble across people with upwards of tens of thousands of moons, and all they did was participate. Please be aware that in order to earn MOONs from this subreddit you must open your reddit vault. I think you can only do this on mobile, but the vault is reddits wallet. Without this, you cant earn anything. You may also get really lucky and stumble across some new projects launching and comment quick enough to receive and airdrop or 2. I've managed to grab about $50 (todays value) of tokens from airdrops. Moons accumulate fast, and if you are active on reddit this is a fantastic way of earning passive income.
There is more information here on Moons: Wiki

4. Hive.Blog

Whitepaper

If you are reading this.... you know more about this than I do... so lets continue.

5. Hive.Pizza

Link: Discord
Token: PIZZA
Website

PIZZA is an engagement token on the HIVE blockchain. If you've been on Hive.blog I'm certain you've seen more than once someone tipping you or someone else with PIZZA. However what I'm more going to be focusing on in this section is the PIZZA community other than the coin itself. The link above is the link to the Hive.Pizza discord channel. There is an insane amount of different ways to earn passive income in this server. You can participate in the various giveaways happening daily, be active and chat with the international community within and every once in a while someone will show up with a PIZZA to share, participate in the various contests within the server (most recent was a GIF making competition with over 200$ of PIZZA up for grabs, however this has ended), join their community gaming or movie sessions (Crab Games was the most recent, and I believe there is also a weekly chess tournament as well) or just by existing and clicking on the occasion "get airdrop" button. You'll click the link because you want free PIZZA, but you'll stay because of the community. Just the knowledge you can acquire from some of their "gourmet chefs" is worth its weight in gold. Whether its gaming, music, art, investing, writing (I believe a group of people are collaborating to write a novel), or memes, you'll find your place within the walls of this server.

So this will end Part 1 of how to earn crypto on a shoestring budget. If you've enjoyed this, or have any others that I may of missed feel free to comment down below. Next part will be focused on P2E games, so if you have a game you've been curious about but haven't gotten around to checking it out, let me know and I'll do it for you. As I said before, the restaurant is closed and I got nothing to do. Thank you very much for taking the time and reading to the end!
