An encounter at Rm 129

The other day I was in the PGH for my whole abdomen ultrasound and other labtest.

As I was waiting for my turn, noticeable is woman who wont stop crying. I am a few seats away from her.

Someone near her can't stand it and she approach the crying lady. We all found out that she has just knew she has a breast cancer. She is falling in line for a specific ultrasound too.

She wept. She wept so hard that really affect everyone in the waiting area.

Out of nothing, a patient came to her and comforted her. They both cried. Then another spoke words of encouragement. And, another one. Another patient shared her journey with thyroid cancer and how she has been dealing with it alone. And, another one shared her story. It was followed by another. Until all we felt was hope. We all felt motivation...inspiration. Ninety five person of us in line has their own painful disease and we are all alone falling in line. Only few has a companion. We were all strangers to each other.

I didn't say anything for their story is enough proof of human resilience. There were patient crying. Some were strong enough not to shed a tear showing bravery for others. But you can witness in their eyes they feel weak too but with an unexplainable strength.

Everyone is comforting someone!

I was just listening. I am not feeling well in the queue for I have been fasting for 12hours already but I found something more worthy than my suffering. It is how a wounded person giving love and strength to another wounded person.

Of all the venue to experience those virtues, we found it in an unexpected place.

Kaya mo yan!
Wag kang bibitaw.
Wag kang magagalit sa mundo.
Sikapin mo ngumiti kahit masakit.

Cliche phrases we often hear. However, on that moment it conveys a different meaning. Those words were fountain of hope... of faith.

As I hear my name called to enter the ultrasound room, I made a quick glance to all of them. They all look better now. They all look stronger.

I am grateful of it. It was a marvelous encounter. The ambiance change from the breath of pain and despair to the air of perseverance and forbearance.

May all of us in room 129 be healed in God's will. All happens as a part of greater plan.

I am still amazed how a simple day can be that moving!

As I lay down in the ultrasound bed, I know I am not alone. There are other people like me. My story.... our story... our resilience can be a source of great reason for someone to face another day.

Naiyak ako bes. Parang king andun ako, feeling ko isa ako sa makikiiyak. Most of the time, ayaw ko talaga ng aura sa mga hospitals. Lahat kasi ng tao, ambigat ng dinadala. Ngayon lang ako nakarinig ng story na puno ng hope. Sana nga lahat ng nasa room 129 ay gumaling na.
