James Hall Museum of Transport

In my previous post, I mentioned that we went on a classic bike ride, to a Transport Museum, and this is the first post on this museum.

This museum is on the outskirts of Johannesburg in a rather dodgy area of the city, thus I was quite surprised on what we found here.

For entrance, they just request a donation. The first car just as you enter is a Joule which was an electric car manufactured in South Africa. This car was never sold commercially, but was unveiled in 2008, but the company closed down in 2012. You can read more about the Joule by clicking on the link.

The small car below, has an ESCOM (South African Electricity supply company) logo on it, which is ironic, as we have a lot of electricity supply issues in South Africa.

There are a number of interesting cars in this museum, below is a Messerschmitt car, built by the aircraft manufacturer after World War II.

The old vehicles was studied from all angles!!

I loved all these old cars.

I liked this old coach, which was most probably used by a mobile preacher, or missionary.

This museum had a lot of sections, below is a section where most of the vehicles are not restored.

Look at the old steam powered vehicles.

Here is another nice steam tractor.

Next up was some old tractors.

I wonder what this small tractor was used for.

I loved all these old tractors.

This museum was much larger than what I expected, I will continue with this visit in some future posts.
