Geet was a farmer. She was so used to getting up early in the morning and going to her land to check out the plants. She knew about the progress of each and every part of a plant.

Geet couldn't even imagine living away from her plants even for a day. One day, she heard about a dam in her state that was in a bad condition. People all around her were discussing the consequences of a possible dam break. They remarked that most of the state would be washed away. Geet felt very worried. Her precious farm would also be affected, as it was very near the river. She did not know what to do.
Geet felt that she was totally helpless. In such a situation, there was nothing that a human could do except pray. Asking the local politicians was not useful because they, too, could not do anything about it, as nature was powerful. She wished that the politicians had taken action earlier to assess the dam's condition and consider rebuilding it. It was too late now. She packed a few essentials in a bag and continued farming as before, hoping that the dam would not break.
It was the same situation every year. Each time the monsoons hit, people would consider the dam and make a statement about the dam being washed away. Each year that survived the monsoons was considered a blessing, but that did not help the people living in the state. Politicians were just bothered about their own affairs and did not bother to address the issue at all.
Geet decided to visit the neighbouring state and bought a few plots of land. Farming was in her blood. She did not want to lose it all. She hired help to do a bit of farming there and returned to her own farm. She knew that one day, if she was lucky to be alive, she would have to leave here and go to her other farm, but at least she would still be able to do what she liked. She also encouraged her friends and family to do the same, and they listened.
Would the dam break? No one knows, but one can be sure that farmers like Geet will always be there to produce food for the rest of humankind.

Kudos to Geet.
Neech aakhiri line mein aapko mention kar dena chahiye tha, inspired by true event. Whenever there is a discussion about a dam that is located between kerala and TN, I feel a major man made disaster is waiting to happen.
What saddening is that instead of taking action it's a legal battle. 😕
What an era we live in.
