SCIFI Finance: A Curated Gem Index and Galactic Governance Token

Today we are celebrating! Why!? Well first of all because we are the proud winners of the SCIFI Finance Creative Contest in the category of original videos. In fact, it was because of this contest that we decided to finally to make our MoonBoi-ness official and create a "band". Having won the contest is great, and we are currently draining pints on the moon to celebrate, but there is a lot more reason to be happy about SCIFI.

Our first encounter with SCIFI Finance was by accident. You see, sometimes when you're cruising around the galaxy, unexplained events happen that alter the very fabric of the universe. It was a fateful moment in time, here on Earth you would call it.. December 16, 2020, but we like to refer to it as The Big Bang. We had been scourging the Ursa Minor Dwarf on the way back from a beer run hunting for some new gems to improve our Rocket Fuel recipe when we witnessed a cosmic event that would shake the very fabric of space time. The creation of $SPICE and the precursor to the SCIFI Index.

What is $SPICE? $SPICE is a governance token for the DAO that controls the $SCIFI Index. It also makes up 2.5% of the Index, thus tethering the fortune of the DAO holders and participants to the future of the Index. A total of 42 million $SPICE exists. All $SPICE will be distributed over a period of a maximum of 5 years for A) the creators and infrastructure providers of the project, B) active participation through promotion or liquidity farming and C) for passive support (hodling) of the SCIFI mission and its partner tokens.

What is the $SCIFI Mission? The $SCIFI mission assembles veteran engineers, seasoned experts and the most daring citizens of crypto space to discover and grow the most valuable gems in the vast reaches of the universe and to harvest the spoils of the adventure in the form of a governance token, $SPICE. $SCIFI represents a hand-curated basket of gems, automatically rebalanced on a monthly basis. $SCIFI is 100% collateralised and tradable on any ERC20-enabled DEX. $SCIFI and any potential future missions are governed by the community. By supporting the $SCIFI mission by holding $SCIFI, providing liquidity, promoting it or providing essential infrastructure is rewarded with a governance token called $SPICE.

In layman's terms, $SCIFI functions similar to an ETF for high growth Gems. The investment team is voted on by the Governance holders (in a system similar to how we vote for witnesses and proposals here on HIVE), and they select the gems in that make up the basket. At any given time you can redeem the $SCIFI you hold for the underlying gems, and you can also mint new $SCIFI by combining those gems into one token.

We have been quite secretive about what our recipe for Rocket Fuel is. There hasn't been much interstellar traffic the past years and we aren't keen to change that... But we can tell you that $SCIFI is one of the prime ingredients in our current formula. You need only look at the index performance since launch to see how high octane of an investment it truly has been thus far.

Obviously there is no such thing as a "safe" investment and we are not giving you investment advice.
