RE: The Brit List: November 2021

in #hive • 3 years ago

Hi @steevc, does me replying move me to the active list? 🙂

I'm currently only really active on Steemit but am becoming increasingly disillusioned with the direction that platform's taking (which most of you probably realised a couple of years ago). It's basically become a platform for bid-bots and as I've said to a lot of people, it doesn't matter if you post a Pulitzer Prize winning novel or a picture of a cow's arse, you'll get upvoted the same. When it comes to bid-bots on Hive, are they a problem here too?

Sort:

Just a comment classes you as active.

I don't pay too much attention to St--mit these days, but I have seen some Chinese/Korean users seem to get most of the rewards. Maybe they are friends of Justin. Hive seems more balanced. It has its own issues, but is generally friendly and people do care about the community. There may be some vote selling going on, but it's not a major factor. Certainly not like the 'bad old days'.

We have online Hivefest this weekend with at least 500 people registered to attend. Lots of activity on various projects.

I got censored on 'the other place' for daring to criticise, so not even worth me commenting there.

We also have !BEER

Hey @the-gorilla, here is a little bit of BEER from @steevc for you. Enjoy it!

I just saw that Tipu sells votes on St--mit, but not on Hive. It just seems nobody really cares about it over there. We still get Tipu abuse here. Seen someone who calls for a vote and then deletes the comment as they are using multiple accounts. Of course nothing is ever really deleted on the blockchain :)

Sorry, it'll take me ages to reply because I haven't been able to build up much power yet and waste what I have highlighting plagiarism!!

I heard that Tipu acts as a post promotion service here, probably because he knows people will start downvoting all of the awful content that he's upvoting. It's totally ruining Steemit - it's already nearing the point that there's no point commenting because so many people are just buying their votes and there's no need for real engagement and relationships. I'd spend more time here if I wasn't so concerned about the unnecessary downvoting of people who become successful which I've read a lot about. It seems that all platforms that pay for content have varying levels of problem!

Thanks for the beer, although I don't understand what to do with it... printing it out isn't quite the same as the real thing 😆

Downvoting on Hive isn't the big issue some make it out to be. Of course those who suffered from it will shout the most, but for others it's not an issue. A lot of the actual abuse here is dealt with as people want Hive to succeed. Plagiarism should be reported to Hivewatcher.

Thanks 🙂 I'll see if I can slowly get involved - I don't want to just share the same content across every platform but I'll see how I get on... the older I get, the less time I seem to have.

Thank you for the delegation - I've got to stop making excuses now!

No problem. Just have fun.

Hi @steevc, thanks for the delegation. I've decided that I'm going to power down this account and likely create a new account - distancing my persona here from my more active one on Steemit and giving me the freedom to post without worrying about what one faction or the other will think!

I can't see a way of cancelling your delegation to me so presumably it's something that you'll need to do. No doubt you'll see a new user from Eastbourne pop up in your reports fairly soon 😄

Thanks again and no doubt we'll speak again 🙂

I've cancelled the delegation. I'd wish you luck with St--mit, but I'm done with them. Hope you stick around with Hive.
