The News
It seems we live in turbulent times with terrible things happening around the world. Some of it is down to selfish and greedy people who will try to deflect problems to others such as immigrants and others who do not 'fit in'. I am more wary of the billionaires. The current upshot is another drop in crypto prices as the investors look for more secure assets. I am in Hive for the long run, so I will ride this out and I am sure many others will too.

Note that $BLURT had a little blip that did not last long. Maybe someone actually bought some as the volume is generally insignificant. I do not expect everyone to buy $HIVE, but if more people can hang onto what they earn and use it to curate then it ought to help us all.
I have neglected to mention some Hive events that are happening around the world. In August there is Hive Summit Aachen (Germany). Then next April there is Hive Creator Days in Alicante (Spain). Then of course there is @hivefest in Malaysia in October. I am not sure which of these I will get to, but I can recommend meeting up with other Hivers to be inspired. I did see that some people are meeting up recently at the Hive Hub run by @buttcoins in Guatemala. That may be somewhere to plan a trip to.
Friday Follows
- I get a lot of Hive news from @gadrian who does a weekly post that can overlap with mine, but tends to go into more detail.
- @bengy has some interesting posts on Eaqrly Music. This is not an area I know much about, but Hive can be educational.
- @ericvancewalton is a writer who has been here even longer than me. He has some thoughts on why people should be here that match up with my own.
- Drummer @giampaolo19 is giving away some drum samples that anyone can use in their music. I know we have lots of people who could make some cool music with them.
- The Hive rally driver @ssekulji has some bad luck in Sardinia, but he is getting the brand out there.
The Dog House
Just last week I put us all in the Dog House for not retaining new users. You can see some statistics on how various projects are doing at this. In many cases over 90% of those they onboard do not stick around. OCDB does about the best, but we have to learn from our mistakes.
If you sell Hive as an easy way to earn then of course people will give up. Making 10c for a post is not a huge incentive for most, but I feel it has other advantages. We have a lot of freedom here that cannot be taken for granted on other platforms that will bombard you with ads and 'suggested content' that you do not really care about. The Hive experience is minimalist in comparison, but you can follow the people who will make your feed interesting.
The End
I have done these posts most weeks for years for my own enjoyment and to try to give some value to others. I believe in Hive and want others to have a good experience. That comes from being social and doing what you enjoy. Those who try to exploit it unfairly are not likely to prosper. Our community is small, but very smart.

Thanks for the mention! I used to have mine on Sundays in the beginning, but my family started to complain because it's a time-consuming post to write and I needed to move it to a different day to have my weekend schedule more flexible. At the time, I hadn't discovered your Friday posts had more or less the same theme. It's good that each of us have different styles and sometimes focus on different aspects or areas from the ecosystem, and we can cover more this way.
It can be a lot of work, but I do mine for fun and to see what responses I get. There have been some other Hive news accounts, but I'm not seeing so much lately apart from the @hivetoday dev updates. Maybe I'm missing some.
In the written form, I haven't remarked any lately, but there might be. Hive is a big place despite being so small. But as a podcast, I think of the show the @coldbeetrootsoup guys put together weekly as Hive-news oriented, plus a few non-Hive topics occasionally.
I saw Blurt had a little action, some mentalist bought 440K of it on Probit in a short space of time which given that it usually has a daily trading volume of less than 200 bucks pushed the price up to a massive 0.009 cents. They were literally foaming at the mouth with excitement.
Then it went back down, to the usual 1/100 the price of Hive 😀😀😀
I saw it and didn't expect it to last. I wonder if a few people are making real money there, but most won't make much at all. A bit like St--mit :)
Pennies instead of pounds that's Blurt 🙂
I try not to even think of the Stincy place!
i should have waited for this pump - is your daughter now actived on Blurt :-)?
Haha, yeek no. She is a lady of discernment! 😀😀
lol - i actually had to google the word "discernment" - did still not understand but Deepl helped me - so good father education by you
Fuck me, I just can't stop the fathering! I'm like a fathering machine 🤣🤣
Same - I just was kicking butts as plants/flowers in garden needed food aka water - i got shouting "YES dad doing it in a minute" nothing happended after 30 mins - next try she raised her voice -did watering - checked, all flowers pretty dry -requested an upgrade - voice got louder - but as a result - I was sad but flowers are happy and will survice the next days.
Hehe, its a thankless thing at times! I worry that I will wear my voice out at times
At least you have the flowers sorted!
Thanks for that weekly update - you are a hero and appreciate your authentic believing in the chain as such - I will power-up more as much as possible.
Some are frustrated as the Binance Earn APR is now down from averayge 40% to below 2% -good chance to powerup the liquid Hive again in our ecosystem.
Not commenting a lot about politics and crazy war leaders - sad it is.
I just do what I can. It's nice that people enjoy the posts.
Politics is such a mess these days and the extremists exploit that. We need more normality.
Thanks for the mention :)
I know Hive is making a big difference in Venezuela and I hope a lot more people can benefit. Over here things are different, but I still think Hive offers a lot compared to other platforms.
Realmente es una gran plataforma , yo empecé con stimitt , pero llegué un poco tarde a hive
@steevc, I paid out 13.696 HIVE and 0.000 HBD to reward 15 comments in this discussion thread.
Excellent friend, I love being informed, you do a good job, and I'm also in Hive for the long term. I hope everything calms down worldwide.
The events that are taking place worldwide, bring consequences, I plan to be here, I love Hive, everything will be solved.
I love the minimalist in Hive experience, rather than been bombard with ads on unfavorable suggestions. A great place to be.
This is not the first and won't be the last. We will keep our HIVE staked if we believe in this blockchain.
You have to trust the $HIVE, You have to decree a positive future for a positive future for the Hivers to manifest.
Just be patient.
