The News
The world has not made a great start to the year with more conflict and chaos. I am not really a fan of 'AI' generated content, but when you hear of people using it to create abusive images your heart just sinks. I would hope that more people leave the ex-Twtr, especially governments and other organisations who would not want to be tarnished by that association. I got off ages ago. I find some of the people I followed on Mastodon, but maybe some will find Hive. I am avoiding corporate platforms as much as I can.
The $HIVE price has recovered a little and the trading does not all seem to be from Korea this time. I have dropped $TRON from the charts as it stretched the scale out. I would have hoped it would crash and burn by now, but no such luck. Maybe the legacy coin will do so eventually.
The @snapie app has progressed in the Android store and is gaining new features. One of those is to use emojis from the blockchain thanks to @mrtats. @peakd is also using this, but may only be in the beta for now.
Friday Follows
- @fullcoverbetting did an in-depth analysis of activity on Hive last year. We really need to see more active people here.
- @hivecreatorsday have tools to create graphics for how you did last year and what you hope for in 2026.
- @planetauto do cool videos about cars. They are UK based so that may limit what they have access to, but they have been looking at various EVs coming over from China. We have a lot of choice in that area now.
- @run.vince.run has been running the @strava2hive service for a long time, but he is also a very active athlete. He has posted about some alternative training technology.
- I make no apologies for mentioning @sidekickmatt again as he produces several fine comics whilst travelling the US to pet-sit. A true digital nomad.
- @louis88 has created various cool Hive utilities and has put up a page listing them all. That also allows you to vote for his witness or send him a secure message via @keychain.
- For some time I have been buying my coffee beans from @whiterosecoffee who is also a Hive witness. I just got a fresh batch.
The Dog House
You can always find drama on Hive if you go looking. I just want people to be nice to each other, but if you annoy people then they are likely to react. I have recently had some spammy comments that complain about political issues I can do nothing about, so those people will get muted. I do not even have much influence on Hive, despite what some may think.
The End
Some people will hit ten years on this blockchain in a few months. Many projects have fizzled out in a much shorter time and even Google abandons popular services. Hive will exist as long as someone will run witness nodes and I see little sign of them giving that up. It is getting easier to set up a node so that is something I want to look into this year. I would not expect to earn much from it, but it is a way to give something back to the community. Maybe someone will do a write-up of the different ways to do that. I know it can be run on a small computer, but it does require some maintenance. Our blockchain is a good place to host how-to guides.

Ai isn’t bad perse it is bad how people do abuse it. And then were are talking about all levels from top to bottom and the other way around!
Hive is full of drama. Also here on all levels. I also have my frustrations but will vent then another time!
Most technology is not inherently good or bad, but it seems we use some just for its own sake rather than to gain anything useful. AI will solve problems for us, but we should not give up our own thinking. I recently saw someone ask a bot to do a simple sum that they could have done themselves. I don't use them much myself.

I cannot express how much healthier I am since I left Twitter. The very few places of other centralized medias I still frequent here and there, I make sure to read the comments from people less. It is a shitshow what goes on in most peoples minds. The division and hate. Less you see all that the better.
Hive in that regard is much more pleasant place to be right now. I hope we are never overrun by the cesspool that exists out there.

I do worry that Hive could attract nasty people, but then we need tools to deal with that. We don't want to compromise on freedom. I've met so many nice people here.
So glad to no longer be on twitter, just a pointless warzone and honestly a waste of a platform really enjoying mastodon.
The coffee is looking very cool, i too should buy more but im currently looking to replace my french press for something better eiter an aeropress or a budget friendly machine that can do me a consistent tasting coffee.

I wouldn't say I know that much, but I like some variety. This guy has an extensive range and I think he can even take crypto payments, but I'm not spending my $HIVE.
Man that Twitter thing with ai nude or sexy abusive images without consent is sick, they did that even with minors, how the hell it didn't come in mind of anyone on Grok team to prevent that to happen

It's crazy how many people still use TRON. I think a lot of people hold it and use it kind of like other people do LTC.
I guess it has enough trading going on to keep the price up. There are so many coins with less utility than $HIVE so it ought to rank higher.

I once read something along the lines of "Give a man power and you'll see his true face," so I could apply that by saying "give someone access to artificial intelligence and you'll see what they're capable of," obviously recognizing that in most cases it's things that cause more chaos and contribute less to productivity.
I find the creation of nodes interesting, and although I'm not very knowledgeable on the subject, it's not unreasonable to do a little more research and, why not, give it a try.
Well we know that having power demands responsibility (see Spiderman) and people have access to incredible things these days. We are seeing that this 'AI' is not always reliable so you need to know what to trust.
There are various posts about running nodes, but you have to read up and follow instructions to avoid issues.
And now, every time we come across a piece of information, the question that fleetingly arises is, "Is it true or not?"

This is why you need to know the sources of information. You can't be an expert on everything.
