Hive is Once Again the Target of Phishing Scams! DON'T FALL FOR IT!

in #hive3 years ago

Like clockwork, the bull run has woken up and invited the cockroaches to join the table and dine next to us.

Once they've established their ground, they started pillaging our sacred blockchain (and most others) with their disingenuous attempts to steal our hard-earned cryptocurrency. This is nothing new to the seasoned veterans and should come as no surprise that it's happening, but it's still a very important subject to talk about in order to try and prevent users from getting scammed.

New phishing attempt on Hive

The way a phishing scam works is that the scammer gets users to input sensitive information into a cloned site that looks exactly like the original. In our case, it's Hive that these malicious people are cloning in an attempt to steal your tokens. Once a user lands on hivé.com and inputs his username and password, he/she can say goodbye to any liquid funds left in their wallet at that time.

In the current phishing attempt that's happening on Hive, scammers are trying to bait people in by making them believe they've received a 300 $HIVE gift from LeoFinance.

If people followed the age-old saying: "If it's too good to be true, it probably isn't." or in this case "If it's too good to be true, it's a fucking scam, don't click on it!" these scam attempts wouldn't even be happening.

Considering the fact that this attack is even taking place, it means that people are still falling for the same old trick because if they weren't, the scammers wouldn't even bother wasting their time.

For that reason, I'd like to urge great caution on every single login that requires sensitive Hive information like your active or master key. If you give them your posting key, the damage will be greatly minimized as they won't be able to drain your funds but still, it's not a good idea to let scammers control your posting and voting authority as they can use it to scam other people under your name and reputation.

SO PROCEED WITH INCREASED CAUTION PEEPS AND DON'T LET THEM STEAL YOUR SHEKELS!

I just had a comment dropped by a 70 REP account, they must have hacked some accounts - maybe that account clicked the link and they're cascading?

Most likely so.

I got one comment on my post today telling me to vote for Leo finance as witness and I get free hive in return. Too good to be true and I know that Leo won't do such thing
