My Reddit Experiment

Today's post will be a short one. Some of you might remember I was running a Reddit experiment with the goal of having a general idea on if any of my Reddit views are reaching the Hive Blockchain. In-short the turnover was low. Context: Reddit posts that gotten 1000+ views leading to the content I created on the Hive Blockchain was used to determine results. The experiment wasn't without its flaws. We used Peakd views as a way to determine turnover rate. The issue with this isn't Peakd itself but the fact that Peakd counts views generated from its own front-end. Meaning views from other front-ends such as Ecency and Inleo were not factored into my conclusion. For the second part of my Reddit experiment I created a second Reddit account. I repeated the process of creating content here on the Hive Blockchain and shared that content to the same reddit communities I shared content in while determining turn over rate.

The reasoning: I wanted to see if my years old Reddit account holds any value. Does it get more views than a new account? Conclusion: I indeed was getting a higher view count with my "old" original Reddit account. Notes: the new reddit account was as bare bones as possible. I didn't even add a profile image. The communities I shared links in are r/splinterlands and r/hivenetwork with one off shares to r/holozing. The content of my shared posts were mainly Splinterlands, Arcade Colony and Holozing. I experimented with some random Reddit communities as well. In-short I used the new Reddit account I created in the same manner I used my main Reddit account. There is only one thing left to do (phase 3) and that is roll up my sleeves and bring a ton of views to () A reddit post leading to peakd () A peakd post that I don't share to reddit and then compare the views of each. I won't be doing this immediately as it requires attention and detail. It currently is a busy time of year here at the @rentmoney household so I'll put off phase three of this experiment until after the New Year.

My Poker Journey

It's been some years since I played poker to any serious degree. There was a time that I reached the nose bleed sections of Razz Poker. It was only briefly and I got crushed but I was there. My ambition isn't to go back to trying that but I do want to reach some level of success again. Ultimately I want to fund becoming a whale here on the Hive Blockchain with my future poker winnings. Most my poker accounts are attached to emails I no longer have access to. I'm in the process of getting access to them again. No malicious reasons for not having the emails, password lock out that led to the email system completely locking out the accounts as a security feature. That being said so far I created an account at an existing poker site that is new to me. Currently I'm getting familiar with the sites front-end and exploring my best route to maximize a potential deposit. I'm also considering free-rolling the joint. In the past some of my biggest poker rolls came from starting at $0 with no deposits. On multiple different occasions I managed to go from $0-$10,000. However that was a time when games were allot softer compared to now and won money that has long since been spent.

I do have a tournament coming up tomorrow that will be my first real money tournament I entered since restarting this journey. It's a freeroll tournament that was fairly easy to win my way into. Slow and steady does it. I want to get a feel for the software and the players before diving head first. I also have plans to try and get WEB2 sponsorship poker games for the Hive community. In the past I ran a poker forum and had/ potentially still have some connections in the poker world. I won't be entertaining such things until late first quarter of 2026 or possibly second quarter. I want to get a feel for the poker sites I'm on before I partner with them. Ex. I need to test their freerolls, software, deposit methods and cashout methods. The last one is the most important. Moving won funds off pokersites in a timely manner is of upmost importance. Hopefully all goes well. It's likely I create an outpost using TribalDex (powered by Hive-Engine) to keep track of hosted games but that is so far in the future that mentioning such at present time would be a little premature :) It's likely we first create a community on Hive in early 2026 that transitions to an outpost.

That's it for my Reddit and Poker Update.

It's not likely I have another update until after the new year for Reddit. I also won't be seriously trying to play any meaningful amount of poker until after the New Year. If any progress is made before then I'll update within my regular posting scheduled. Thanks for visiting the @rentmoney blog; your time and attention are appreciated.

Thanks for testing out redditposh!

Thanks for creating it.

It's a great tool to help bring eye's to the Hive Blockchain while also giving an added way for those who participate in such to earn additional rewards. Redditposh will be part of my phase 3 post conclusion.

How was the tournament? I stopped playing Poker for a long time

I end up registering during late registration. It was a turbo tournament that left me with 20 big blinds upon registering. Five minute blinds. I manage to steal a pot here n there but lost an all in to a two outer on the River. To be fair the other opponent had the better hand preflop. Left me with about 12-15 big blinds. I shove in middle position with A 10 and get called by QQ and go busto.

I wish you all the best on your tournament tomorrow

Can't wait to see what happens with the Poker idea!

Me too, time will tell I guess.

Thanks for sharing on X.

Poker is enjoyable but it requires self-control to not to lose too much

Its important to learn the game before risking ones own money. Poker is a game of skill and there are some sharks out there. That being said there is ways to earn funds without much risk. I hope to bring those ways here to the Hive community.
