How To Run A Hive Blog (Redundancy)

Tips & Tricks For Blog Creation

Many moons ago sometime during the first quarter of @rentmoney signing up to the Hive Blockchain one of the series of posts I ran detailed how to improve on ones Hive Blog. Within that series I detailed the importance of post structure using keys like # to create headers within ones post. Other codes such as (<br*/>) which creates space between paragraphs and/or images. Not to mention one of the most important aspects of all which was to include at least one image in your post creation. For those new to the Hive Blockchain if you don't include an image in your post that will greatly reduce the chance of your post getting noticed regardless of how well structured and informative your post might be. Upon this reflection of posts gone by I reviewed my recent content which has long since took a switch to gaming content. This is widely because of my early venture with Splinterlands and things spawned from there. Which brings me to my next point and what lead to the title of choice. When blogging about apps (gaming or otherwise) a certain level of redundancy might be best. Meaning it's likely you will have to continuously find ways to display the same information or perhaps use a template. I'm sure some are reading this thinking "No Way RentMoney we frown upon such". To that I say Let me introduce you to.........

In engineering and systems theory, redundancy is the intentional duplication of critical components or functions of a system with the goal of increasing reliability of the system......Source

The Importance Of Redundancy

Using my Splinterlands posts as an example many times you will see included my definition of what Splinterlands is. I change it up from time to time but there is only so many ways one can correctly define Splinterlands in a short simplistic but truthful paragraph. So why do that at all? What is the point of defining something that most my readers already know the definitions of? The answer is a simple one and it doesn't just apply to Splinterlands but Holozing, Crypto-Shots and any other app one might like to routinely blog about. When advertising/ posting about WEB3 apps one needs to think of the stranger from WEB2 that might stumble upon ones post. If said stranger were to read your standalone post would they understand what is being talked about? If not then you just might of missed out on converting someone from WEB2 to WEB3. You might of missed out on another long time supporter for your blog. Redundancy to some is new information to others. The key is to include new elements each time or it can become a pain not only to blog about but to read as well.

Hello WEB2 User

First you might be wondering what a WEB2 user is. Well if you are asking that question it just might be you. Basically its someone who uses traditional web pages like Facebook and Twitter and isn't active with cryptocurrency or blockchains. Not a fully accurate description but one that should suffice for the purpose of this post. Hive is a Blockchain that I am using to create this post. Posting/creating on Hive (WEB3) allows me to have the unique opportunity to earn from my created content. This is a direct contrast to WEB2 model that sites like Facebook and Reddit use (cashflow mainly goes one way :( to the companies). Splinterlands, Holozing and Crypto-Shots are games that are widely considered to be play2earn. Meaning you have the chance to earn rewards with real monetary value when playing them. You could even (if you stick with it long enough) earn more back then you spent on them. Sound interesting doesn't it. That first step to participate is always the hardest. Get started today and sign up to the Hive blockchain using the below highlighted link. If you do so and have any questions fire away in the comment section below and I'll get back to you when time allows me to do so.

I like to explain things in every post too, so that if a new user or even better a Web2 user stumbles upon my posts to read, they would get the full picture.

Exactly, got to convert those WEB2 users.

I think it's nice to have explanations in all the posts, even though usual followers are already familiar with the topics.
The regular followers will very quickly learn which parts to skip over to get to the meat of the post and new users will get full experience from reading a single post.

I agree with everything you said.

Hey mate, thanks for the post! I started a couple of months ago with my Hive/ Splinterlands post, so will take your advise into account! Keep the good job!

If you plan on using this code (<br*/>) remove the * first. I only put the * there because if I didn't the code wouldn't display in my post but take the action its suppose to.

Welcome to Hive, if you have any questions fell free to stop by any of my posts and fire away. I will do my best to answer them. I'll call the tip bots for you. The tips can be found in your tribaldex wallet.

Redudancy is an important engineering concept. Agreed. And useful in blogs so they stand alone to new or one-of readers. You do a pretty good job with it. Some bloggers put the same long footers on every post that get dated or are not relevant to the current post. Thats when it gets ugly...
