RE: Hive, you have some real problems. So let's talk about that.

So. Let's talk about this registration page.

Which one? Would you like to tell LEO how to write theirs? SPL, Liketu, and so on.

It's not like it was back in the day. I still chuckle that we all got away with calling it Stinc. We don't even have those posts any more where we'd all go gather, all walks of life from every direction, and yell at them.

People run their businesses and if their guidance isn't sufficient, it'll come to a point where they have no choice but to fix their problems.

These days we have communities. There's always someone at the helm and a lot of members willing to help on their own. Even those intro posts. Been awhile since I looked but usually there's someone spamming a really shitty, overwhelming, TMI comment to every noob walking in the door, explaining things like RC.

I've sat with inexperienced members, explaining things.

To me, it's just life. If you want to drive, one learns how to drive first. People, for centuries, have been fine with that.

Sort:

Those are some valid observations about the dApps, none that I can really argue with. To be honest, we've spent a lot of time on RC which was a point in my post for sure, but not really the main point overall, just sort of part and parcel to it.

Good lord I miss those stinc bomb posts. I'm one of like only 8 or 9 people that Ned actually fully blocked (Someone showed me he blocked account list one time back in the day from some block explorer or something back then) and I always regarded that as a badge of honor. I don't think even Aggroed ever fully blocked me completely to this day, and we've tangled WAY harder than the fires I ever held Ned's feet to.

And no, I wouldn't expect to tell all those dApps and communities how to operate, but I'd surely like to sometimes. And knowing me, if there's a venue where I can, I usually would and do. Especially if they are doing slightly slimy things like one in particular I've used this week that was fairly surreptitiously taking an 11% cut of the post rewards via automated beneficiaries.

Again, totally fair as a stipulation of use but its not disclosed on their site, their faq, their docs or in any posts from their authors I could find and I dug around and looked specifically for it after noticing it. I do not like surprises that could look shady simply because it isn't made clear before I used their interface instead of one that isn't taking a premium off the top.

It's really difficult to respond to an entire post. It's common for me to pick a piece and just go from there. And now we're talking about ned. I have/had the Muted by Ned badge as well. Never really knew why either. And it actually upset some people because apparently I was making sense that day (miraculously).

I can't say I agree with automated beneficiaries. Some people don't even know how to check which "authorities" they've granted. Dig deep enough into something like Peakd (quality product IMO) and it's all there. Even RC is explained in the wallet.

First day on the job is always the hardest. I always joke, "It's my first day, but I start tomorrow."

And I don't mind if you have grievances with the place. Everyone does. Me? I just go with the flow. I've been yapping about "get paid to be supportive" and things similar for years. The way I see things. I don't ever expect it to catch on.

I think we fond our common ground here again. it's been a rational discourse and I appreciate that very much. BTW, Im not the only OG to reappear on the same day lol, Crim just posted for the first time in a year and some others I know are "back" this week too in various ways. Something must be in the air.

As you can see, I don't post any more. Oddly enough became active again quite recently myself. I've always been on and off though.

It's heavy on the sarcasm. Or light. Depending on how you see things. I still care about the things I care about. Just not as emotionally and mentally invested anymore.

It's always good to see people returning.

Heh, that was a great read, one that you should have psychically known to send to me, oh about (scrolls up to check post time) 8 hours ago.

Woulda been a lot cooler if ya did.

Especially since its the funny version of exactly what I've written here and been commenting all night to various people's replies, more or less.

I nearly wrote a satirical take on the whole SPL show. Had the notepad out, writing jokes in preparation. Walked away from the idea. Seemed like there was a rift forming and I didn't want to be taken seriously and end up contributing. "Too soon," they say.

A lot of eyes were on the site as well. Would have been my most viewed post ever. An "opportunity."

But I just don't got it in me anymore.

I was there once, 2000 years ago and I didn't have it in me anymore either.

So take your time.

We'll probably be here, bitching about Aggroed trying to manipulate somebody for his own gain as usual, in 2.5 years when you feel like you need to check it out again. Based on the number of OGs I am seeing resurface on about the same timeline as me this week, 1-3 years seems to be about the right amount of time for you to take a break and for nothing to change a single bit in the meantime.
