Hi @wil.metcalfe, HIGH FIVE! Sorry I missed this post earlier.
Having recently set up a Hive witness while also operating a Hive-Engine witness here are a few things I think are important when it comes to choosing your witnesses.
- It’s important to show up everyday!
- Responsibility- the ability to respond. When something breaks down a great witness jumps in to help get it back up and running.
- Helping others - the best witnesses provide tools and services that help their peers and other users. They give away knowledge in the form of how-to guides and messaging.
- Competency - aware of what’s going on and keeps infrastructure running smoothly. This requires software programming and system administrator skills. Many of the top witnesses have back nodes that automatically fail over if their main node fails.
- Bullish on Hive! If our elected representatives don’t believe in a bright Hive future, then who will?
For what it’s worth, that’s my 2 cents.
