What you said did not made any sense to me... how can a post that is having a lot of engagement, be downvoted to look into the trending feed...
A post is even trending or its not... the price is irrelevant! It should be like "views"... you can be hated... or liked... the "view part" (in this case voted, part, per unit of time) is the part that would say hot...
Obviously, some sort of weight would need to be in place, because otherwise "bots" would fake this...
Lots of things like these exist on #web2... its hard to balance the game...
#hive is probably the place where if you (or one) would be with millions of view, the easiest place to say "FU..K off" - "this is something no one wants to see"...
On X? On Facebook? on whatever... all you need is to fake it with AI imagines...
I could do millions of accounts like that...
Point?
I am not here for short term idiocrasy...
I am one to only desire a filter when I want to actually filter stuff out. In cases where I see someone I disagree with downvoting posts that I want to see then I would want to filter that person's votes out of my feed!
Re-read this again... and now I understand what you meant.
So, you want to "not see" people that downvote stuff you upvote? Is that what you are looking for?
If so, yes, bring your own bot... this is decentralized. You can try find the best bot to do that...
I can do it too... "Anyone can"... but its not free if you don't know how!
It's not guaranteed too...
Upvoting is not a form a guaranteed revenue...
And the more time it passes... the less it will be!
I know this might take many years to actually settle, but in my view its a much better strategy compared with the current "I can cheat whenever I can, as long I can crate many bots..." (including on #hive, but here we have curation and can actually curate that... with humans, as opposed to being reported and accounts being oppressed).
My views only... none endorsed.
I realize that I could have done much better with an array of bots hopping onto every trending post and getting the curation rewards. I have purposely tried to act as a faithful user of the platform to see if it is useful for people who use it as a social platform.
I read how there were too many creators and not enough consumers. I am mostly a consumer. My experiences of having comments rejected because of lack of power was very frustrating. Glad to have enough to function now, I just view it as an important caveat for any new users, weighed against the merits of this platform.
Its not going to be something like X at... alll! Indeed that's a big barrier, but its also a filtering characteristic of a new paradigm... and I would never envision this to be as easy as speaking a native language or communicating within your own family.
It's going to be a work in progress for a lot of time... but like many things in life, the legacy of these things is what we make of them. And just to document its quirks and challenges is such a great start... for the next generation of bright minds to mine and evolve.
Thanks for dwelling into trying at least.
To find appreciated by just being around, is hard. And I think #inleo is trying to help lots on that front, and this looks like a great way of doing in my view. At least, a viable one.
Later, with more critical mass, the difficulty you pointed out might just become easier.
I have seen plenty of posts that were viral until a whale stepped in. The visibility in the "Trending" feed was completely dictated by the pending rewards. This is what led to the hard fork of Blurt. You might find some of those posts with discussion about this topic on @drutter . I might see if I can dig up some more references for you.
If you think about 10 years time... who do you think right now, will still be with at least 1k transactions per second on chain?
That's the thing... other than that, you are just loosing time (in my view, and I have lost a lot of time with MANY other chains...), because technology by then will be SO much more advanced, that it would be worthless...
Obviously, I am not a king... anyone can do whatever they want... and that's fine...
This is the way, of the decentralized way 😎
This does not mean I am stuck, just means, "until proven otherwise"... thing.
HIVE has a lot going for it. The split from STEEM included some improvements that are just now being realized with SPK, I hear. I believe the foundation is strong. I don't mind letting stakeholders tend the financial value of posts with downvotes. I think a user option to put in their own weights should be added. If a post is really popular enough then the multitude could outvote a whale or two. But when you can tamp down visibility by down-voting it, people don't have the choice to upvote if they only can use the trending feed to see what's hot.
