Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of actual code production to update you on this week, but there is a lot of learning and cleaning off the rust going on. All in all, this was a productive week which should in theory cause next week to be even more productive.
You can follow the production going forward on GitHub where they make it uncomfortably easy for someone to realize what a putz the coder might be. I don't know, I just think its funny that there is a graph of your daily work for all to see there. Its a great idea, and hilarious to me.
I've never really used git and Github before. I have only done a bunch of copy pasta in server config files and some messing around with web dev "back in the day". This past week, I got that up and going and got some practice with my dev flow. With an old school command line affinity, my P52 ThinkPad sports PopOS! for graphics support and a mostly KDE interface harmonizing with Nextcloud. My little mess mixes a modern and classic vibe, resulting in a cherished, personalized setup that is fun for me to work with.
I spent a lot of time getting a little better idea about the layout and function of the plugin. I took a bunch of time to look into the Exxp plugin and the Hive development system. I don't know if I can say I have a good idea as to how to get started strategically. Honestly, I feel a little less sure than before, but I'll just keep trying to figure it out as I go.
The code I did try to run this week was a complete failure. At this point, I'm just wiping everything and starting from scratch again. Usually, I have to do that 3-4 times in hopes to finally get a good start.
That's as far as I got and that's why I stopped to do this update.
Now back at another fresh start.
The main page for the wp-dapp remains updated.

Wait, but what is the point on the webpage, what it does provide that hive does not already?
Using Wordpress is just another front-end option, but one that everyone has access to and Wordpress also has a huge market of functionality. This would be yet another way to further decentralize Hive.
I personally prefer to have my content on my own domain where I can syndicate to the blockchain, rather than the other way around. This would allow those options and probably a lot more down the road.
It means that even if things ever go sour with hive as a project, you still have your wordpress site, I get it, it further decents and creates solutions to the worries of some hivers.
Besides, it is easier to get SEO eyes on wordpress sites than on hive currently.
I think you are doing a great work. I do not have real basis to evaluate it, but a decentralized Wordpress would be much great, aligned with the unstoppable domains!
Thank you.
The unstoppable domains is an interesting tech. I've seen a few different ones and I don't know the best way to deal with the domain name problem or the ISP problem. If we could figure those out along with out blockchains, we would be in a really interesting place.
Meshnets could be a solution, but that takes a bottom up DIY mentality that just isn't realistic on a large scale. Nerds like me would be happy to do it, and that is a start, but its gonna be a while at best.
Checking the discord in order to learn more, and the web page, it seems a petty simple and better way to integrate Wordpress into hive, for what I can see. Cool.
There is another plugin that is excellent that does a lot of what I'm looking for, Exxp, but they say that there is unlikely to be any further dev. There are a couple of things I would really like to see, so I'm giving it a go.
So you decided to took it on yourself and make a tool that you would keep development on and updating as time goes on? heck, that earns a follow and a favorite, I like people that see a problem and decides they can take it on themselves.
Thank you!
I'm trying. I'm not a coder, but I'll give it a go.
I think the biggest thing that we as users of decentralized and open source tech need to keep in mind is that it is completely up to each of us to add value to our network.
I do that with post and engagement, I try my best so I can be called an example of a hiver, doing 60-80 comments every day I post, and doing my best to make a post so good that I don't have to edit them. I don't know how to code so I do engagement and high quality stuff :)
Oh good for Wordpress users who are also on Hive. I'm hoping there's also a Blogger integration in the future. It seems it's always Wordpress that people use. haha.
