RE: Harassing me is a bad marketing strategy for Blurt

in #hive24 days ago

I do enjoy the discussions and points you bring up... and I guess the fact that so many of your posts end up with hundreds of comments speaks to the fact that people do want to talk about these issues.

I'm kinda of the persuasion that the UX — and yes, I know we have several — needs a mute option that completely removes users of your choice from view. That's just good web design, regardless of whether it's Hive or somewhere else.

I also think some additional functionalities could be coded into the options for community owners and admins; more customization.

I'd like Hive to be a friendlier and more "promotable" venue, as well... and I believe communities might be the best gateway. Consider how most people use the web: We go looking for what interests us. Nobody is just "on Facebook" or "on Instagram" anymore... they do very specific things there, related to their interests, be it gaming, gardening, collecting, an activity, an interest, an occupational field, or whatever.

Interests/hobbies tend to be "stickier" than venues. I'm far more loyal to gardening, writing and stamp collecting than I am to Hive, Facebook or TikTok. By extension, I would find it much easier to tell friends to "join the gardening community on Hive" than just to "join Hive."

Even if people are free to say "whatever they want," an expanded tool set and settings for community managers might clean up various "pockets" of the community, even if cleaning up the whole is impossible.

Let's face it, there are communities/groups on Facebook I wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole, but that doesn't mean I think they should be banned or censored. But I don't want them trolling my garden club!

I realize I have wandered a bit off topic here, but I am ultimately reminded of the reality that just because you have the right to freedom of speech does not mean you're have the "right" to be agreed with!

I think a lot of people forget that...

Happy New Year to you!

I'm not a coder, but have discussed this with Marky, Pharesim, and others that are, and what I understood was that because the frontends show the data stored in the blocks, the complete obfuscation of particular accounts can only be done globally, not per users preference. I could certainly have misunderstood, so you might seek contradiction of my above claim.

I remember being very excited when Ned gave the presentation in Korea where he introduced SMTs, Oracles, and 1a1v. He also discussed communities, and at the time the concept seemed to enable communities to limit whom could access their content, up or down vote on it, and more. None of that came to fruition, and communities today are just interest groups, and nothing more. Sun bought Ned out, Steem became Sun's privately owned platform, and Hive became my new home and I've never looked back.

Would have changed the world, I think, had the extant plutocracy not viciously opposed 1a1v and their monopoly on governance.

I totally agree. To me it seems like an elegant way to improve UX.

I think so too. I think there is a lot of value with communities and more progress with communities will add at least some value to the HIVE ecosystem. I know they are constantly working on communities. I am hoping me creating a TradFi one will give me better insight so I can provide actionable feedback.

I am all for it. I do it all the time myself lol

Lots of insightful things in this comment. Thank you so much for leaving it!

Happy New Years!

The Blurt crew are all spsmmers, 5 years later & still these guys just copy & paste same nonsense dozens of times daily. They are shilling for a corrupt chain, and are such trolls they can’t go day without posting here how “Blurt is Better”. It’s clowns mostly. A trip there makes it quite clear Blurt is 100 real people or so and 99% is repeat posts from people eco post here or elsewhere.
It’s all so old! But the fact like 10 of the most active Blurt accounts feel need to post on Hive daily says a lot. !PIZZA !LADY

Off topic but, I have love for Hive, even if largely sentimental after investing 40 hours plus a month here since 2020, but price? It’s more clear then ever we are going down another 50% for certain next 18 months. I got lucky buying 130K HP in 2020 below .10 cents and sold 100K of it or 80% above $2.25 just 16 months later. I planned on holding it but when I saw it surge 2500% I knew that top was not going to last so sold. I don’t see any wisdom in not taking funds off table when a 2000% plus moves happens that’s obviously mania or artificial. At least it gave me an all house money outlook on here.

I was always surprised you bought when u did, but I very much respect the choice! I just think it’s timing wise never been more clear I can get twice the Hive for same money in next 3-18 months. I know I’m random AF here, but felt like sharing my thoughts. Cheers! & Happy New Year!

Not random at all. HIVE price is not super important to me right now but it is important to people here.

There are a lot of headwinds right now outside of the Blurt thing this post was related to.

It’s more clear then ever we are going down another 50% for certain next 18 months.

I think 2026 is going to 5 cents is totally possible. If I had to take a bet just on how things currently are I would lean towards 5 cents over 20 cents. Staying at 10 cents seems unlikely but who knows. I mean none of this is financial advice.

The only thing that gives me pause is people short HIVE which holds the price down.

I’m guessing that massive increase you are referring to is short sellers getting nuked but it’s pure speculation.
