Full Moon

FullMoon

I remember a pwd friend whose only dream is to become a father. It has been 3 years since we last connected. Wondering how he is, I tried to chat with him. So, I opened my old account and went to his timeline. But, before I click on the "message" button, I was tempted to check on his posts.

Whoa! He's a father of two now. Filled with awe, I scrolled deeper into his facebook. I'm preplexed how he supports his family amid this pandemic, knowing he is a pwd too and not capable of doing extreme physical work. He is not into online stuff like me. Much to my surprise he works in a factory. He is an operator of a heavy equipment. For real!? Yes he is.

As I scroll even more, I noticed he posts a lot of things, of course his children, his wife and his work. He is extremely hit by the lockdown. Considering the background of his photos, I bet I am on a far better situation than he is. He posted a lot of canned sardines and this has made them survive the pandemic together with soy sauce. No regular work for the past months, he wasn't able to make both ends meet. Sadly, he wasn't also a SAP beneficiary. I pitied him.

But no. Knowing him, he is a perfect epitome of hope. Checking on his pics again, I noticed the glare on his eyes. It didn't changed. In fact, it emanates. He is extremely happy. Reading the captions of his posts about his children, confirms he is ecstatic. He is thankful of having kids and this is his best gift. His smile resonates how contented he is with his decision. A simple private life.

Now, I feel proud of him. Yes, this is you. He has made a dream come true. He is a father now-- a one happy, contented father.

Happiness comes in all form... this is a cliche passage we often hear. Deep in our minds, we all know that happiness is not an option but a choice. Being grateful for all things that comes, is the main secret. The sky no matter how gloomy will always have silver linings. How often we forget the simple stuff and take for granted the things that are normally there.

The world may dictate you, this or that will make you happy. The norms may decieve you that you must have these and those. The trend may persuade you that his or her life is better than yours.

This pandemic has affected all of us one way or another. You could have been stepping back. You may be starting all over again. You may have been stagnant for months. Whatever it is, anxieties, fears and hesitations that lurks within... at the end of the day, you are breathing. You lie in bed with a reason to live and to love. The times may have been tough and out of our favor, however, bountiful of blessings are still given for free.

As I sip a cup of sweet chocomilk in my window, the gentle breeze caress my skin. Hearing the sound of the frog and crickets under a full moon, was never been this thrilling. Before I sleep, I will not count sheeps to fall into deep slumber. Instead, I will be counting my blessings. Surely, I will never run out of it. Thanks to an old pal, who taught me to dream, and uphold the best of our earthly lives.

Me: Woy, musta na!
Pal: Uy, buhay ka pa pala!
Me: Pautang
Pal: Ikaw nga me utang sa inaanak mo eh
Me: tengenengyen
Pal: bwahaha
