Some ranting about hive curation, KE, link sharing, comparison to other stuff like reddit's token, etc.
Not much more to type compared to my 30 minute rant on the video, i'd recommend speeding it up and auto-translating the cc if english isn't your first language.
Rewards dependent on KE ratio - I like that! Or at least some reduction, if KE is over 5 or so.
Could be a useful incentivation tool to not sell Hive.
At these price levels we NEED to think outside of the box and also about more radical steps like reduction of the HBD APR or the rather useless 3% Hive "inflation".
The bigger nail to hammer down right now are those with a high KE but at the same time providing very little contribution/value to the ecosystem. Having a high KE in and of itself doesn't tell the full story - I could be selling all my hive to sit on Bitcoin thinking it's gonna 2x soon so I can buy 2x more hive for instance in half a year - or any other reason. But having a high KE, getting a lot of stake and still barely being around - that's the thing we should focus on stamping down first imo. Because if people are getting a lot hive for doing close to nothing, naturally it's not going to mean much to them and they're willing to part with it easily.
I've legit seen some folks brag about buying a big flat screen TV some years ago while their KE (even though it didn't exist back then yet) was approximately 30. Then you looked at their posts and it was 1-2 big voters always while there was barely any engagement nor was the author trying to engage.
Most people who do a lot for hive either on chain or behind the scene do "advertise" this either in their bio or mention it in posts/comments, so I'm not advocating for downvoting or not rewarding those people - even if their KE happens to be high.
But if you're "just" an author and still earning a lot with no signs of trying, then stakeholders should stop rewarding that and not force people to start downvoting to stop that activity.
Inflation is reducing on its own, making drastic changes there is not a good idea, imo, especially not to HP. As for HBD, people say it's better to lower it when price of hive is doing better.
You should be required to make a video like this once a month! 😁
Yes, KE should be taken more into account. All front-ends should display each user's KE, like @peakd. This is so that those who are curating can analyze user participation.
In addition to the philanthropic side of HIVE, particularly with users from more disadvantaged areas, as mentioned in the video, there are other analyses to be made: whether the user has a high KE because they withdrew it to buy HBD or second-layer tokens, whether they withdrew it to make an investment that will improve their performance in publications (computer equipment, photographic equipment, etc.), in addition to the BTC example you mentioned. But for that, an analysis is needed, hence the importance of KE being straightforward. I don't deny a vote to a high KE user if I see that they have effective and permanent participation (interaction).
Unfortunately, what we see most are irresponsible curation groups, in exchange for delegations, helping with continuous looting.
I ask: what pleasure do users who buy HIVE get from seeing others constantly withdrawing due to the irresponsibility of the curators?
That #gosh one escaped me, I'll activate it in my strategy. In addition to Reddit, I'm also sharing on Medium, which is a HIVE-friendly platform because it's possible to share the entire publication in a simple way. I'll do a tutorial soon.
Agree fully, it's the "inactive" aside from posting ones we need to reconsider rewarding with this much stake.
About gosh, I need to make a whole video about it I feel like as too few people are using it and it could have great potential. Maybe even a usecase for the posh token later on, who knows!
Acidyo dropping another deep dive on Hive curation & KE – always appreciate these rants! 🔥
The comparison to Reddit tokens hits hard: Hive rewards real value creation, not just karma farming.
Watched the full 30min (2x speed + auto-translate helped 😅) – worth every minute.
What’s your biggest pain point with current curation system?
I guess it's that a lot of upvotes aren't questioned whereas downvotes instantly raise all hell.
I really don’t like giving opinions about what some receive and what others don’t… because I say Hive is like real life. Everything fits here… beauty, malice, justice and its counterpart… what I do know is that there are ways to tell whether someone truly enjoys Hive or is only here to post and get votes.
Curators should be able to see those things because here on Hive all of a user’s information is accessible. And thank you for the information about Reddit and its token, I had no idea about that. I face serious connectivity problems (though it may not seem so) and I had to give up things I would have liked to keep, such as a radio programme I started, and sharing on other platforms… but anyway, I didn’t come here to complain. I came to thank you for being attentive to these matters.
Hit the nail on the head right from the start. So much entitlement in crypto spaces in general. The "pioneers" that claim to be involved or contributing for the sake of the community are often using that as a guise simply to extract as much value as they can. Wolves in sheep's clothing. Their ulterior motives are only too obvious.
What is considered a good Kegel Score?
I think KE is just one metric among many to consider when evaluating an account. My KE is low because I power up, and I swapped STEEM for HIVE as soon as I could after the fork and its fallout, giving me a big boost back then. It doesn't necessarily mean anything beyond that. I know some people who sold HIVE to pay bills, and that resulting KE score doesn't indicate they're just here to milk the token for a quick buck in general.
Compare it to reputation. I also have a high rep because I have been fairly consistent in publishing and commenting for a long time. Some people got a high rep from big bots back in the day, or from vote farming schemes. I seem to have accumulated some auto-votes from zombie accounts myself. The rep number doesn't really prove anything one way or another on its own.
If you were too look at my account based solely on reputation and KE, it still only suggests something about me as a HIVE member. You'd still need to decide whether my posts, comments, up-and down-votes, and even my witness votes affect that one way or another.
