I like the idea of having my own vegetable garden... self-sufficiency.
Yes, if you grow it, you know what you have! Do you have cold winters, or can you grow colder tolerant crops year round?

It's not very cold here, the minimum is 0 degrees, right now it's winter and now it's 16 degrees.
Celsius? It will be freezing water here tonight...it's 38Ā°F here right now (about 3 Ā°C); so it is cold here too!

Yes celsius.... I don't suffer much from the cold, in fact I don't have heating in the flat.
I have heat here, but it sounds like it's set about where your 16 Ā°C local temperature is holding.
