Hello itinerants all over the world and hive community! What's up with you guys? It's another wonderful day to be grateful for despite everything that's going on with our surroundings right now due to this pandemic. I hope that you are all doing okay not just financially but also with your well being. In times like this we really need to keep ourselves sane specially us being sheltered at home for the longest time until we feel secure to go out without being afraid of catching the virus sometimes it drags us down emotionally and mentally because we feel way too bored or we are slowly getting used to being easily getting burned out or being unproductive.

I am also excited since it's my very first post here in the #HomeEdders community. I've been reading a couple of posts here and I am pleased with how informative and educational they are not only I'm able to learn new interesting things but also I'm able to apply them to myself while staying at home with my family. I do hope that I will meet new friends and can have an interaction with you sometimes. Just a disclaimer, I only share things as far of my knowledge and experiences, If you think I've shared wrong information or if my posts need some improvements please feel free to chime in the comment section below.

I try to keep my sanity by working smart, doing fitness, going back with my hobbies like writing, playing computer games and watching movies and I spend a lot of time with my family especially with my nieces. One of my favorite things to do is to have a tutoring session with them.

At first, I taught my niece the ABAKADA alphabet system or also known as the Filipino alphabet or the tagalog abakada. It's a one syllable word that's a combination of one consonant and vowel letter. These are the abakada alphabet, A - "A" B - "Ba" K - "Ka" D - "Da" E - "E" G - "Ga" H - "Ha" I - "I" L - "La" M - "Ma" N - "Na" NG -"Nga" O - "O" P - "Pa" R - "Ra" S - "Sa"T - "Ta" U - "U" W - "Wa" Y - "Ya".

There are so many ways to make your lessons fun and interactive. I used some educational tools online and on youtube. You can always choose which lesson materials you can use depending on her level. I chose the elementary lessons but still she finds it a bit difficult so I really have to do it from the very beginning and let her do it slowly. She easily gets bored so I really have to use video materials.

I really feel very fulfilled knowing that she's somehow learning new things and improving her reading skills. I am just sharing this so I can monitor and track her growth. Once again, if ever I share some wrong information here please do not hesitate to correct me. I'm just trying my best to make her improve her reading and make use of the time during this quarantine season. I would be very glad if you also share ideas or share this tutoring session with your family too.

By far she can read short sentences but makes a pause word by word. Though, I'm very confident that she's going improve more in the coming days of our tutoring sessions. I will try my best to share it here in the community so that you'll be able to know her progress too.

Honestly, it's really difficult to teach a kid because they easily get distracted and bored. If you have some suggestions how to keep her focus or to keep the lesson more fun please share it with me in the comment section.

She is still confused with the uppercase and lowercase of the letters and I always correct her but she's just used to her writing. For sure, she'll just improve soonest and I'm glad that I'm able to make my days productive and do my duty as TITO/UNCLE char hahaha.

That's basically it, please feel free to leave a comment below. Everyone's glad to hear the stories of yours! Just always remember that learning is a lifetime process. You can learn from your experiences, trips and from other people. The world is so vast. Explore and Learn! Traveling isn't is as expensive as you think! There's a so called travelling on a frugal way with a purpose! Stay tuned then.

DEUCES!

I am sure that your niece will value the time and love that you dedicate to her training. I think it's great that you combine the use of technological tools, since they currently have a leading role in the education of children. It is important that you get to know their learning style and what they feel most comfortable with, so you will optimize the process and the time you invest will make the most of it. Greetings and blessings.

That really fuels me everyday, the time that I spend with her and the idea that even during this pandemic she still learns something everyday. Her learning success is my success too :)

If they're getting bored it's time to change it up or do something else. Kids learn best by playing so make it fun ;D

Even adults learn/work best by playing or at least by having fun (hence why everything is getting gamified).

Looks like you're doing great with your niece :)

Sounds like she's progressing well and it sounds like you're getting the hang of trying different things out to see what she best responds to and what keeps her interest. She's taking a lot on learning both the English and Tagalog alphabets, so it may feel overwhelming to her at times.

In my experience I find that whenever possible, it's great to try and make learning a game for children. This way they have the motivation and the excitement to learn and they're more likely to retain what they've learnt.

It's been less than a week of tutoring sessions and I can really feel her progress already. I'm still trying to improve my ways so she won't easily get bored. I sometimes let her watch cartoons in English in the middle of the lesson everytime I feel like she's losing her interest. I guess the ABAKADA works really well for her. I would definitely prepare games for her next time I may still search for education gaming sites. Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. Have a wonderful day!
