Amber Flames [Poetry]

those cryptic amber eyes
hide so much from me
their thoughts a mystery
behind that stone-cold gaze

are they windows
into our souls
or a prison that holds
me tightly in a cold cage

i want to look away
but everywhere else
possess not such cold beauty
as this amber glow

i would look away
but the touch of this coppery gaze
drops liquid gold inside me
bursting into tiny flames

would I set the world on fire
as tiny browns flecks
etched deep in the iris
ignite my cold dark corners

like a phoenix
i'm awake and on fire
my fingers gripping the bars
they are warm and mesmerising.
