🕺 Welcome to the Scholar and Scribe Invitational 🕺

The Invitational is our bi-weekly, super-duper, writing contest. It is where we match quills and draw blood all for the sake of the craft. We all know a 'friendly' competition never hurts anyone, much, especially when it can be used as a platform to improve your writing. 🙌

🥳 Last Invitational Winners 🥳

🥇 Gold: 2 HSBI, 300 Ecency points, 50 SCHOLAR, 3 SCRIBE
@alonicus - The Body in Mayor Square Mystery

Detective Inspector German's wristchip vibrated softly. He was glad he'd turned the ring tone off, it was distracting when he was working. Looking down, he saw the symbol for an urgent incoming text message. Tapping the chip, the holographic screen appeared at his wrist to display the message.

🥈 ** Silver: 1 HSBI, 200 Ecency points4, 40 SCHOLAR, 2 SCRIBE**
@tengolotodo - Detective Softly and The Nexus Pit of Deceit

"Ach, fluff!" cursed Detective Inspector Scott Softly after he nicked his cheek with his straight razor. "Who is calling now?" Softly was a meticulous man who refused to shave with anything other than a straight razor. "When you get to my age, you want your face to be as smooth as a baby's bottom," he regaled to Corporal Delightful once too often.

🥉 Bronze: 100 Ecency points, 30 SCHOLAR, 1 SCRIBE
@rinconpoetico7 - Mr 666

He was getting out of his flying car, wearing a banana-colored trench coat and a wide-brimmed hat of the same color, he caught the attention of everyone present. “Trent, how old you look in those clothes from the last century. You have to get in tune with the new clothes made entirely of nanorobots and which are changed according to the occasion,” Rush, a fellow officer at the police station was welcoming with the comment.

🏅 **Runner-Up: 100 Ecency points
@rachie05 - THE MISSING CHILD

Sal knew something was wrong as he looked out of the window and saw people gathered in front of a neighbor's house. Apparently, a child had gone missing and the mother was already panic-stricken. The Police were also there asking questions about the child, how he looked, what his name was, his height and so on.

The story you submit MUST adhere to the following prompts:

🎥 Genre: Horror
🎨 Theme: Paranormal

It's the month of Horror! So you will excuse us if we have two back-to-back horror contests (funzies!). This first one, requires you to send shivers down the spines of your readers by the way of the Ghost. Or Ghoul. Or a Scooby-Doo villain. Your fright device must be literally out of this world. Something natural and hellish. Paranormal storytelling takes many forms, so everyone should paint with a vast palette! 🎨

May the odds - and your creative energy - be ever in your favor!

We'd like to give out a big shout-out and thank you to Ecency for sponsoring this contest! 🤗

A big thank you to @melinda010100 as well for the seamless communication.

Check out the Ecency front-end and/or mobile app for more information on how to use your points.

Thank you - I loved this one, there were so many great entries, I didn't think I was in with a chance at all !

These are definitely my favourite writing contests, it's interesting to try out genres I haven't dipped into much before, and it really pushes me to focus on improving my skills 😀

Thanks Kemmy, but I think horror/spooky and paranormal is way out of my league ... right up your street though @deraaa

Thank you and congrats to everyone who wrote and entered!
