RE: The 9 Do’s And Don’ts For Better Engagements

Sometimes...

  • It's fun just to be fun.
  • A post is simply too long or too densely packed to read the whole thing, but the general topic is of interest... and a comment without reading the whole post should be just fine.
  • A one word comment is appropriate
  • Arguing with someone is important to attempt to convince
  • The goal of posting is let off steam (no longer steem)
  • Being popular is not the goal
  • Sharing one's thoughts causes someone else to become offended
  • Forced/Enforced Happy Engagement is just not real engagement

I actually agree with all of your points above. I think Sid's post has some good tips for those who wish to avoid being flagged, but I'm very much a free speech advocate. Diversity of opinion is important.

In an ideal world, people would be able to have vigorous debates without resorting to threats or insults. Similarly, people shouldn't perceive disagreements as personal attacks, but that's easier said than done. As you can see in the Rules for this group, I simply wrote "Common sense will hopefully prevail." I'm hoping in the longer term, that will suffice, but I do think it's reasonable to ask people to be courteous, within reason.
