Hello #indiaunited community members and friends. This is my entry for the #iucontest week 14
This week’s prompt is on our favorite food.
There are several types of food in our various cultures. Our cultural background plays an important role in our taste preference. Someone grows to fall in love with what he or she has been exposed to over the years. This factor defies whether one is rich or not. Attitudes and habits are built overtime from constant integral practices that we put ourselves through.
Our feeding and nutritional habits are mostly affected by our cultural background. Where we grew up from determines what we prefer in terms of food. Also, what used to take from those who raised us when we were children also affects our choice of favorite food. Our adoption of favorites among other foods won't just happen accidentally, it grows from what our feeding organs had gotten used to.
In my case, I grow up (and I'm still growing among them 😀) amidst people who love eating rice regularly. We are fond of eating rice. There are several ways we cook rice.
We could cook the rice as a complete mixture. Some people refer to that as jollof rice. In our native tongue, we call it concoction rice. Concoction rice is very tasty and delicious. In fact, it is highly nutritional. The ingredients are all added together with the water and cooked. Trust me, everything blends together to make a lovely delicacy. The ingredients include dried fish or smoked fish. Onion, fresh tomatoes, seasoning, salt and pepper.
There is another way of cooking the rice. This time, we only parboiled the rice and then prepared stew separately to use in eating it. The stew or sauce contains the major ingredients for the diet. This is usually the way we prepare the rice for special occasions and festivals.
The kind of the concoction rice which I usually prepare is the one with a lot of vegetables added to it. The vegetables are chopped and mixed together with the rice plus other ingredients and cooked. I cherish this type of rice a lot.
