Guidance for Installing Solar grid with Goverment scheme - Surya Ghar ( 4.6KW)

in Indiaunited7 months ago (edited)

Hi, all Welcome to today's blog. Yes, I have installed the solar grids to produce electricity with government subsidies in India, Tamil Nadu. Anyone having a doubt regarding the solar installation in India for a residence, I will cover the entire process in this blog, which will be very useful for me. I wanted to motivate more peoples to get involved and participate in solar energy and I hope atleast one person who is reading this blog will stimulate the thought of installing it. If you have any doubt regarding this solar, you can contact me through WhatsApp. Let's get Started.

IMG_20240401_125616813_AE.jpg

First, we need to register on our PM Modi Ji Scheme Site Here You need to register here with credentials like a mobile number and a mail ID and fill out the credentials; they ask only for the electricity connection number, last month bill copy, and bank details for subsidy purposes. First of all, I need to say that by installing solar won't make your eb charges zero ever. You must have network charges so please keep that in mind. But I will be sure that your electricity bill will be reduced to a minimum of 90%. So, in this scheme, we are going to get ON grid system where we don't need any batteries to store the electricity; we are generating the AC current and directly selling it to corresponding EB services.

After registering, your application will move to feasibility approval from your electricity board. An officer will come for an inspection at home, and he will give approval that you can track on the mentioned government site itself, whether you get approval or not. Sometimes it takes time. All the processes will take so much time; try to be patient.

And in the later part, you need to find a good solar energy installation team in your locality. And you have to get the quotation for the requirement, KW. Let me explain the KW now. This is the measurement of how big a grid you wanted as per your usage. If you have usage of 300 units / month, you can install a 2KW setup, which is sufficient. Below the table, I give you a reference for how many units it will produce.

Solar Grid (KW)Electricity production / DayMonthly production
1KW5150
2KW10300
3KW15450
4KW20600
5KW25750
6KW30900
7KW351050
8KW401200
9KW451350
10KW501500

All the above-mentioned calculations are tentative. Also, we can't exactly put for 4KW because we use 8 panels of 575W Bifacial Panel, where output will be 4.6KW and I chose this size because I have so many appliances in home like air conditioner, fans, fridge, etc.. which was costing me around ₹2,000 / month so I chose this 4.6 KW, which would produce minimum of 23 units per day and 690units per month.

So you need to choose the solar grid setup size as per your home usage and contact the solar energy installation services provider. Don't worry, you can get the multiple service provider list here at this link for your locality.

I advise you to get a price quotation for all the service providers, compare the prices, and ask the best service provider to install the setups. Please make sure of the quality of the panels they use and the and the inverter that they are using. We need to pay the full amount to the service provider. I installed a 4.6KW solar panel full setup for ₹2,10,000/-, so consider this cost for your requirement. After installing the setups, they will provide you with specific documents that you must submit to the electricity board officials.

After installation, they will upload the documents to the Modi Ji site for subsidy.

Now, after installing the solar grid, here starts our most patient process: the net meter. If you need it quickly, we will have to engage in numerous under-the-table dealings. Before explaining, know about the net meter. A net meter allows you to monitor and read the value of the intake current from the electricity board and how much electricity is exported to the electricity board from solar. So, we have to pay for the meter; for me, it cost ₹10,588/-. I am in that waiting process only; it has been more than 1.5 months since I paid for the meter. I inquired at EB, and they said it would be fixed within 2 days.I hope they will. After installing the meter, every process was completed. And after submission of the application for subsidy within 30 days, the subsidy will be credited to the submitted account. Here I attach the subsidy details for your reference.

IMG_20240406_103403761_AE.jpg

So total cost of the project is:

Net meter charges: ₹10,588/-
Solar installation: ₹2,10,000/-
Miscellaneous charges: ₹1,000/-

Total would be: ₹2,21,588
Reducing subsidy: ₹78,000

Total cost with subsidy: ₹1,43,588

Now come to the billing part:

Whatever is exported and whatever is imported will be recorded in the net meter. Here I explain how ON grid system works. During the morning, solar will produce the electricity, which we will utilize, and the excess amount will be exported to the EB line. During the night, there will be no production in solar; you will import the current from EB. So, reducing imports from exports will be the amount we need to pay. If you have exported more than imported, you have to pay only network charges for those excess export unused units you can utilize in the next month (when there may be low solar production). These excess units will carry over to the next month and be null in April. So better utilize all the excess current produced in your home itself, which is more beneficial. I have no problem because I have a graphic card mining rig. I will take the excess unit from last month, mine the profitable GPU coin, and cash out the payment in crypto 😄.

I think network charges vary from state to state. Here are the details of the TNEB network charges in the below video.

I hope this will be useful for some of you,

Thanks for the detailed and valuable information.

Hello Ranjit

Thanks for the detailed information.

😀

Badass bro. I wish I could do that too but my current financial condition won't let me haha. I can see that more people are getting interested in this tech now because our electricity charge is increasing day by day and this looks like a great investment with the subsidy.

We have it worse here compared to your place xd so I will share it with my friends too. I bookmarked your blog for now. Thanks for explaining the whole procedure bro.

Wow, thanks for your time to read and sharing with friends, and making the world green.

No problem bro 😁

Quite informative.

I will install 2 Kwh one day. Do you think AC will run with 2 KWH?

Thank you.

Is it ON grid or OFF grid, brother?

OFF GRID sir.....

I think chances are less as OFF grid batteries won't last for that long load. ON grid is independent of load barriers.

So do you suggest me to go for ON GRID???

Yes

Okay.

I think I can get 60k subsidy if I go for 2 KWH.....

Thanks for the information buddy !! It was useful.

That is so awesome man. I also want to avail this scheme but since I live so far away from my actual home I am scared that the panels might be stolen after I install it as Noone lives there apart from a Family that rents from us.

Wow brother this is great, I am also planning to install one.
