Between Screens

in Indiaunited14 days ago

Many aspect of my life on a daily basis involve using my phone and or my laptop. I have become so accustomed to using them that it is hard for me to imagine how differently things would be if there was no smartphones or laptops. I can't even remember the last I made it through a day without using at least one or the other of these devices.

I use both my phone and laptop almost equally, but in different ways, both have their purposes. My phone is more for comfort, while my laptop is for learning.

On my phone, I spend most of my time on WhatsApp and Moon+ reader. WhatsApp is one app I cannot seem to avoid, it is basically my center of communication. I'm constantly using it throughout the day to talk to my family, coursemates and friends. While I definitely spend more on the platform than I really should, I find the need to stay connected to others makes it nearly impossible to not stay active on there. There's also Moon+ reader, which is also one of my favourite app. I use it to read eBooks, and honestly, it's one of the few apps that doesn't make me feel guilty about screen time. I love reading and having all my books in one place just makes it easy.

My laptop, on the other hand, has a different type of hold on me. I use it mostly for schoolwork and my Web development practice. Even though, I am currently in the learning progress, I have dedicated a significant amount of time to becoming familiar with the languages and also on Visual Studio. It has not been a walk in the park, but it has certainly been interesting for me.

I probably spend more time looking at screens that I'd like to admit. My phone is easier to carry around so I use it more than anything else, and it allows me to stay connected and entertained. I can be lying down or on the go and still be on it. While my laptop, most often, is for stuffs like my school assignments, projects and coding. Both devices help me maintain my social skills and reach my professional aspirations. Although I plan on taking breaks for myself, too often I find myself needing to check/evaluate something that relates back to the two areas. It could be messages that I need to respond to, a project I need to continue to working on or reading a book.

Technology now is so ingrained in everything we do that it is almost impossible to separate technology from our everyday lifestyle. So, for me, it is both. My phone for social media and reading books. And my laptop for learning and progress. Both keeps me busy and sometimes, that's exactly what I need.

This is my entry to the Indiaunited prompt for this week....
