The power behind Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies like Hive, is it's code. I'm not a coder or software developer and have no knowledge of coding in Python, Java, Rust or any other coding language. Yet I trust the code.
The developers who wrote the code may be unknown to me. Nobody knows who Satoshi Nakamoto, the father of Bitcoin, really is. Yet I've seen the code work flawlessly since the Genesis block in 2009. It's all there on the blockchain and in the White paper for anyone to see.
And the developers of the other blockchains, like Hive - originally called Steem built by Ned Scott and Dan Larimer - may or may not be nice people. I don't know. They may be rascals, yet it doesn't matter because the code works and the blockchain runs successfully. So I trust it.
Such is the nature of blockchain technology and the smart contact. If it's written well, it will work flawlessly and blindly, without fault. So I have faith in it. I put all my wealth and life savings into it. You could call it blind faith, although it's based upon past performance of the code.
If we simply follow the code and utilize the blockchain as it is intended, we will become rich. All our effort will bear fruit and we'll achieve our goals. Anyone can do it, regardless of their skill or knowledge with the actual underlying code or their knowledge of the developers and coders who wrote it.
If we simply follow the process as prescribed, we'll succeed on the blockchain.
Along the way, We'll see others succeeding too. Some even more than us, with way better results and more wealth accumulation, perhaps due to better creative content or smarter strategy. Perhaps for content that doesn't appear any better than ours, and yet somehow they have tapped into a way to attract the flow of coins.
It doesn't matter. Nor does it matter that the select few whales at the top of the heap appear to have the vast share of the wealth pool or can generate exponentially more gains as a result.
We're not envious. A competitive spirit can always be channeled into improving our performance. However, envy is a trait that benefits no one and only degrades our own state of mind.
A wise person will soon realize that envy is like hate or anger... it hurts you more than it hurts the other and is totally counter-productive.
All of these insights come from common sense and are based upon our day to day life as users of blockchain technology. Anyone can understand them. And these insights are also relevant when walking the path to liberation of consciousness.
There is an ultimate code to life, written by the original coder of the universe. You find it in our DNA spiral helix. You see it in the patterns of the spiral galaxies of the Milky Way and the spirals of the sea shells on the beach.
We don't know the coder or when it originated. We have little to no idea how the code works, and yet we know it does, so we have faith that it will continue to work and that there is a meaningful system, a pattern of intelligence woven throughout everything.
We trust the system. You could call it blind faith because even scientists will tell you that the more they discover, the more mystery is revealed to still be discovered. Nobody really knows how it all works or what's really going on. Old paradigms and scientific laws are being overthrown and rewritten every few years.
Therefore, we simply have faith that their is a meaning to it all, that life is a functional system, a steady state, despite occasional exceptions and despite our ignorance of the details or the bigger picture or the person who wrote the original code for everything.
Despite all of that, some details still remain from our ancient history with instructions from the original coder. Some intuition and insight is available to us from within our mind's eye. If we apply these to our lives, we'll find our way out of illusion and ignorance while simultaneously achieving the real goal of life. We'll find ourselves in that place where there is no anxiety.
Bhagavad Gita ch3:31
ye me matam idaṁ nityam
anutiṣṭhanti mānavāḥ
śraddhāvanto 'nasūyanto
mucyante te 'pi karmabhiḥ
SYNONYMS
ye—those; me—My; matam—injunctions; idam—this; nityam—eternal function; anutiṣṭhanti—execute regularly; mānavāḥ—humankind; śraddhāvantaḥ—with faith and devotion; anasūyantaḥ—without envy; mucyante—become free; te—all of them; api—even; karmabhiḥ—from the bondage of the law of fruitive action.
TRANSLATION
One who executes his duties according to My injunctions and who follows this teaching faithfully, without envy, becomes free from the bondage of fruitive actions.
PURPORT
The injunction of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, is the essence of all Vedic wisdom, and therefore is eternally true without exception. As the Vedas are eternal, so this truth of Kṛṣṇa consciousness is also eternal. One should have firm faith in this injunction, without envying the Lord. There are many philosophers who write comments on the Bhagavad-gītā but have no faith in Kṛṣṇa. They will never be liberated from the bondage of fruitive action. But an ordinary man with firm faith in the eternal injunctions of the Lord, even though unable to execute such orders, becomes liberated from the bondage of the law of karma. In the beginning of Kṛṣṇa consciousness, one may not fully discharge the injunctions of the Lord, but because one is not resentful of this principle and works sincerely without consideration of defeat and hopelessness, he will surely be promoted to the stage of pure Kṛṣṇa consciousness.
