Sometimes the red pill is too much for the masses to swallow. They would rather stay in illusion because the alternative will lead to a destruction of any semblance of meaning that did exist.
And with nothing to replace the artificial construct upon which their reality is based, their life collapses into an even worse condition, perhaps one of nihilism or misery. After all, without meaning life seems cruel and depressing.
The pursuit of happiness and material facility is the main motivator for the majority of people. We've been raised like that - to be good workers and consumers. Very few look beyond the externals of the body, ego and immediate circle.
Some rare few take up noble causes to uplift society or protect nature. It helps to have a goal outside of ourselves to give meaning to life sometimes.
And even fewer will look for ultimate purpose on an existential level, attempting to question their identity, the cosmos and the whole picture. They'll look for answers to the big questions of life.
We must all come to our own realizations based on the information and insights presented to us. Others can only point the way. We have to internalize the message, find what resonates as truth, and base our life around that.
There's no use forcing something onto another if they are unable to comprehend it. It's better to let each person come to their own conclusions.
The best way to sway others is by our own example. Be the change you want to see, and others will follow if they're able. For one convinced against their will, is of the same opinion still, as the saying goes.

TRANSLATION
Let not the wise disrupt the minds of the ignorant who are attached to fruitive action. They should not be encouraged to refrain from work, but to engage in work in the spirit of devotion.
PURPORT
Vedaiś ca sarvair aham eva vedyaḥ: that is the end of all Vedic rituals. All rituals, all performances of sacrifices, and everything that is put into the Vedas, including all directions for material activities, are meant for understanding Kṛṣṇa, who is the ultimate goal of life. But because the conditioned souls do not know anything beyond sense gratification, they study the Vedas to that end. Through sense regulations, however, one is gradually elevated to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Therefore a realized soul in Kṛṣṇa consciousness should not disturb others in their activities or understanding, but he should act by showing how the results of all work can be dedicated to the service of Kṛṣṇa. The learned Kṛṣṇa conscious person may act in such a way that the ignorant person working for sense gratification may learn how to act and how to behave. Although the ignorant man is not to be disturbed in his activities, still, a slightly developed Kṛṣṇa conscious person may directly be engaged in the service of the Lord without waiting for other Vedic formulas. For this fortunate man there is no need to follow the Vedic rituals, because in direct Kṛṣṇa consciousness one can have all the results simply by following the prescribed duties of a particular person.
