10 weeks and counting... Raven keeps growing

in Hive Pets3 years ago

It's been 2 weeks since we got Raven. We got her as an 8-week-old puppy and I guess today you could say she's now a 10-week-old woman. She grows every day and we learn new things about each other every day as well.

I haven't had a lot of time to train her but on a certain night, I used the reward mechanism to teach her the basics: sit, stand and lay down. I think she got a hang of it that night but we need constant repetition for the commands to properly stick.

Her first week with us was so confusing. We had no idea where she would sleep and how her nights would be. But we learned to adjust and now I think we understand her routine a lot better.

I also just found out that she came with a manual for her feeding. We've been at her beck and call for so long, that we didn't realise she's only meant to be fed 3 times a day. It's like every time she cries we're rushing to give her food, and water or set her free to poop.

At first, we didn't know we had to keep her at a spot for the night so we'd let her roam the entire house and then come across poop in different places.

Now, we chain her to a spot and very early in the morning I come out to let her outside to do her business and play with the other dog before we bring him inside and keep her outside for the rest of the day.

She's meant to be an outside dog so we don't want her to get too comfortable staying indoors. We keep her outside all day but at night, she comes inside to sleep and we repeat. We realised that whenever she gets agitated it's usually because she wants to poop.

We used to let her roam very often but we noticed that the moment we let her inside the house freely, she picks the worst possible place to do her business.

I know I need to give her a little more of my time but it's kinda hard with the life I live. I'll keep trying my best though.

Her physical and attitude changes are so much. She no longer cries to sleep in my room but she does cry when she wants to come inside and sleep. I guess soon enough she'll outgrow all the crying. I can't wait.

She's also at her teething phase so our shoes and flip floors have all been ruined to her satisfaction. It's cute but I can't wait for her to grow up.

Thanks for reading

PS: That image was taken when she was 9 weeks old. We had just gotten her a cute collar that she has successfully gotten messy.

Hey! She is a wonderful puppy girl ✨ She looks peaceful 🥰

She is far from peaceful right now. But I'm believing she'll grow out of it.

She looks like she's plotting the next shoe to eat
