Triple Heating Evenings & Wounded With Laughter

Even in our sunny Spain, the temperature surely dropped recently and gone are the days where you could hop in the car without taking your coat or even add some layers and a scarf by default. BUT not all days are that bad because we are currently seeing 20 to 21 degrees Celcius for the afternoons as well. Sadly, during these months it means that we're lucky if it hits that temperature for two hours because it really all depends on the willingness of the sun to appear.

Fleece blankets

Luna is very easy and will hop on whatever blanket is available as long as she can lay on my leg partially because she finds that most comfy. I personally don't because she's grown quite big and fat so she's quite heavy and cutting off blood supply in my foot after some hours, lol.

But I love her so I always let her, because she's so sweet! Most of the times... Maesi is one that knows exactly what she wants, when she wants it and HOW she wants it. She'll let it be known as well by sometimes loud protest of meowing and complaining if her hoomans aren't quick enough to get her way.

The thing is that she never wants the same thing, so it's hard to predict what it is that she truly desires today. She can be a pain in the ass, that's for sure, but in the end she just wants to snuggle up and chill with her hoomans. That is me or the little hooman, because it rarely happens she picks my boyfriend over one of us, lol. She's more one of the girls.

Ladies fight

It happens quite often that one of the girls isn't fast enough to land on my lap and then looks horrified to find out "the other one" already snuggled up, leaving little space for her, or just not the exact spot she prefers to lay down.

Last week there was another incident, a first I should say, where I got wounded in my foot because of a cat laying there to rest and somehow freaking out, thinking she was under attack when I just tried to move my foot to get some bloodflow there. This little adorable cat, don't be fooled by her sweetness, has claws that would make Wolverine jealous. She has been such a tough cookie to trim the nails, even as a kitten, that we all fear doing it.

She may look adorable above, and she actually is, but her nails can do serious damage, so I've learned a few days ago. I will spare you the pictures but take it from me when I tell you her nails went in all the way, it felt like they'd leave on the other side of my foot, lol. The whole situation was actually hilarious and made me laugh out loud while crying from shock and pain at the same time. My boyfriend didn't see it happening so he jumped up in distress wondering what the heck happened.

The incident

I will have this memorized forever, just like when we had a kitten a decade ago who made some sort of flying attempt to kill me, like some sort of squirl it flew towards me and both of us remember seeing that happen in slowmotion. We can still see it until this very day. Sadly last week's event was witnessed (and felt) by just me.

Maesi is a pussy, like when the doorbell rings, she'll jump up from where she's sleeping or whatever she's doing and race to the second bathroom to hide behind the wall and toilet. I don't know why she's that scared but she only allows the tutor of our daughter near, who she truly loves as she'll even sleep on her lap, haha.

Anyway, back to the incident. She was sleeping on my foot and I had to move to get some blood there and I do this all the time, it's not something I have to be careful of normally, but this time I guess she was sleeping very deeply or was dreaming something to get her in defence mode because something shocking happened.

When I moved my leg, she first put her claws deep inside my foot, to then have a horrifying look in her eyes, truly frightened and thinking she was being under attack (this is how I know she surely wasn't out to hurt me) and as soon as she put her nails inside me and pulled them out, she flew 1,5 meters in the sky, made a backwards salto to land behind the couch. I saw it all happening before I looked at my foot to see it bleeding a LOT.

Because of the crazily funny move of her jumping that high (I never saw her do that before) and then make a backwards salto while having the most horrified eyes ever, I started to cry and laugh out loud at the same time. My boyfriend looked at my foot and ran to get sometime to stop the bleeding while he returned and I was crying with laughter being in pain as well as trying to process what just happened in front of me.

The aftermath

I was so hoping my boyfriend saw it too but he didn't so I couldn't share this incredibly funny moment which is also graved in my memory as the Wolverine attack now. Gosh, that freaking hurts! I looked at my foot and it became swollen instantly, my anckle didn't look the same and it was bleeding so much that I really hoped any dirt would be washed out by it.

I'm normally not that lucky with wounds so I figured tomorrow I'm going to be screwed and not be able to walk anymore, and have to get a Tetanus shot as well to avoid worse. We cleaned the wound and I hoped for the best.

The next morning, to our surprise, the swelling only got a bit worse but the wounds looked clean and I didn't have more pain than the night before. In fact, it's been almost 5 days now and nothing happened, just a little swelling, nothing extreme, surely not infected. Gosh, what a relief!

Isn't she lovely? The next day she seemed to be unsure what happened but clearly knew I was in pain and she did it. She was trying to keep her distance a bit until the evening, when she decided to snuggle up on the couch again.

To make it clear, I never got angry at her for this, I knew she didn't hurt me to hurt me and it was just a stupid accident. I know one thing and that's to wake them up before moving my foot or leg from now on, to be sure. OH and the next day I started to trim her nails even though she hates it but it had to be done. I only have 5 of 6 done but it's something. The back claws are even harder with the resistance, lol.
