A scary day that Scorpion Sting My Puppy

This is my first post on Hive Pet community. As this will be my second blog ever outside foodie community. 😀 I hope you guys have a bit patience with me. It's quite difficult because I'm a bit worried about my grammar but I'll try to do my best. 🙏
 

Today I would like to share you guys a story of my puppy who got stung by a scorpion. My home is a residence to snakes, scorpions, toad, frog, millipede and centipedes as well, which I did seen those animals in my garden sometime. Mostly all those animals will show themselves in rainy season. ⛈
 

 

💚 Firstly, I would like to tell you shortly about Pomelo. He is a 5 months old male Pomeranian, which he's very playful and active. Right now he start to losing his puppy coat, and that change his appearance look a like very cute little monkey. So let's me show you the footage on that scary day! 🎞
 

 

For a few day ago, Pomelo has been outside to do his morning routine as usual. Firstly he'll go out at our parking space, and waiting for his friend who is my delivery guy, which he'll come to our house early in every morning to pick up some documents from me.
 

 

When Pomelo heard the motorcycle approach, so he move a bit closer at the gate and start to wag his tail.
 

 

Now two friends with same kind heart having a very good time for greeting and say hello to each other.
 

 

After Pomelo done his mission morning with his friend, then he'll walk to the garden to do his potty. During his walk to the garden, suddenly I hear a voice screaming of hurt from Pomelo, so I run quickly to hold him, and saw that he hold his front paw up, then I search on the ground to find out what's cause him the scream.
 

 

I spot the scorpion are about 2 inches long on the ground!!! Then I call out my daughter to take a photo of the scorpion to show to the veterinary doctor, may be helpful to identify the type of scorpion.
 

 

I and my daughter immediate bring Pomelo to Veterinary Clinic in my area. Once we reach the clinic, then the doctor give him emergency injections of pain medications and also allergy medication. After that she try to find the stinger, but can't find it. And scorpion venom can't find from blood test as well. So the doctor decide to monitor his breathing and heart rate for about 1 hour more. 💉
 

 

Then I also receive a prescription for pain and allergy medicine for Pomelo. And need to keep monitor him at home, if he breathing in trouble. Then bring him emergency back to get the oxygen therapy. But fortunately, Pomelo was breathing normally. 💊
 

 

Most scorpion sting are not harmful and only cause pain around the area that was stung. But more dangerous if our dog having allergy, then scorpion stings can be life threatening. 😨
 

 

Although Pomelo didn't have any side effect from the venom, but he was refusal to eat and acting tired and absolutely week. Pomelo barely can't move, shaking sometime and crying sometime, often awakening suddenly at sleep time. So I need to stay awake all night long to calm and comfort him.
 

 

In the next morning, Pomelo awake and turn to feeling normal and fresh again, but still need to give him the medicines.
 

 

And I would like to show you my trick to give a pill to Pomelo. It's call pill pocket, just make a hole in his soft snack treat.
 

 

Then insert the pill into the pocket. 😁
 

 

Give him the snack treat with a pill in it. 💊
 

 

THE HAPPY ENDING! 💚

 

 

He eat medicine with any doubt, swollen it in one bite! 😁
 

 

Even want more of it! 😅 Pomelo start to get better and better. On that evening, he act as normal again by start play and run around inside the house. What a relief!! 💞
 

 

Lastly, I did learn to being aware more of the surroundings outside and keeping a close eye on him, both inside the house and especially in the garden, which can help keep me and him safe from any harm animal.💕
