I have been putting off writing this, because I have been deep in mourning and just really a mess. But my beloved Yuan, my best friend, crossed the rainbow bridge on the 6th. I am devastated.
Since Laeg (my betta) also crossed just on Halloween, it felt even worse, like a double gut punch. It was just me and Sanglainn (my snail, who lives in the aquarium). So on the 14th, I went and got a new betta friend. I can't cuddle her of course, but she is very interactive, which helps a lot since I've been so lonely without Yuan. So meet Athena:
It still feels like I don't know how I will go on without my love, but I'm here.
I am so sorry to hear about Yuan. It was a good long life. It was nearly a year before I got another cat after Bryde died at 21 1/2 years. At least there's Athena, but as you say, no cuddling and the lack of physical contact will be a thing...

Thank you 💜 I do miss him, so much. He decided he wasn't into the buttons. The only time he ever used one? Was shortly after Maggie passed, and he jackrabbited the one that said "love you." I felt like it was a message. He never pressed them again.
