I Am Heartbroken

I am heartbroken to report that Laeg, my friendly betta fish, has crossed the rainbow bridge. 💔

He was with me for a year and a half. Bettas can live much longer than that (average is 2-5 years according to the internet), but he was sick several times. I would treat him, he recovered, and then months later he'd be sick again. I did my best and followed advice and researched what to do, and I don't know if maybe he just had a weak immune system? Some people think due to breeding practices that bettas are often sick. It was a different illness every time. He had a cyst burst on his side, then six months later he had popeye in one eye, then this time (six months later again), he had swim bladder issues.

I still feel like I failed him, though. :(

Sanglainn the snail is now alone in the aquarium. I'm wrecked.

He died during Samhain. The next night, after I had buried him where CuChulainn and Macha are buried, a light up decoration on my balcony just above there lit up for the first and only time. It has solar panels on the top, but I can't get it close enough to the edge for the sun to hit those panels due to my vertigo (I get dizzy with heights), so normally it doesn't work. It worked once, that night. I cried. I felt like it was a sign from my friend telling me he was okay and saying goodbye.

I miss him. :(
