Hello Hivers! Today is the start of the week and I hope it is full of good opportunities for you. I want to start off on the right foot and with my participation in the Hive Pets community contest 🐾, it's my first time posting here and I feel excited to share with you the story of one of my great furry loves, my beloved and missed by all my family and friends: Newton.

Quiero iniciar con buen pie y con mi participación en el concurso de la comunidad Hive Pets 🐾, es mi primera vez publicando aquí y me siento emocionada de poder compartir con ustedes la Historia de uno de mis grandes amores peludos, mi querido y extrañado por todos mis familiares y amigos: Newton.

Your Arrival in Our Family | Su Llegada a Nuestra Familia

My family and I hadn't had a pet for a long time, until one day suddenly an adult cat started to arrive at our house. As I have always been a cat lover, I started to offer her food, but she was stubborn, she only ate when no one was around. Little by little the cat, whom I named Missi, was gaining confidence with all my family, but much more with me, to the point that she let herself be petted and lifted by me. She was no longer afraid.

Mi familia y yo teníamos tiempo sin tener una mascota, hasta que un día de forma repentina empezó a llegar a nuestra casa, una gata adulta. Como yo siempre he sido amante de los gatos, empecé a ofrecerle comida, pero ella era arisca, solo comía cuando no había nadie cerca. Poco a poco la gata, a la cual le coloque el nombre de Missi, fue ganando confianza con toda mi familia, pero mucho más conmigo, hasta el punto de que se dejo acariciar y alzar por mí. Ya no tenía miedo.

On the other hand, Missi did not stay to sleep in my house, she came every day to eat and to receive our love, I did not know if she was a house cat or lived in the street, however, in my home she never lacked food and much less affection. One day, as usual Missi arrived at night and surprised us, she was pregnant and started her labor here in my home. I remember it was in 2016 and we were shocked, however, her labor was difficult, but my mom helped her to give birth, until she gave birth to 4 beautiful and healthy kittens.

Por otra parte, Missi no se quedaba a dormir en mi casa, ella venía todos los días a comer y a recibir nuestro amor, yo no sabía si ella era una gata de casa o vivía en la calle, sin embargo, en mi hogar nunca le falto alimento y mucho menos el cariño. Un día, como de costumbre Missi llegó por la noche y nos sorprendió, estaba embarazada y comenzó su trabajo de parto aquí en mi casa. Recuerdo que fue en el año 2016 y nosotros estábamos impactados, no obstante, su parto fue difícil, pero mi mamá la ayudo a parir, hasta que dio a luz a 4 hermosos y sanos gatitos.

But, I couldn't keep them all, because it was difficult for me to feed 5 cats, so my mom and I made the difficult decision to put 4 of them up for adoption. I made sure that they were all in the hands of people who would meet their needs and give them lots of love. I told my mom that I wanted to keep the tiger kitten, black and yellow, the last born of the litter, because he was different from his siblings. Since I was little I had a special connection with him and finally he was the one who stayed with us and this is where the beautiful story of Newton begins.

Pero, yo no podía quedarme con todos, porque me era difícil alimentar a 5 gatos, por eso mi mamá y yo tomamos la difícil decisión de dar en adopción a 4. Yo me asegure de que todos quedaran en manos de personas que cubrieran sus necesidades y les brindaran mucho amor. Yo le dije a mi mamá que quería quedarme con la gatito tigre, negro con amarillo, el último en nacer de la camada, porque era diferente a sus hermanos. Desde pequeño tuve una conexión especial con él y finalmente fue el que se quedó con nosotros y aquí es donde comienza la linda historia de Newton.

Your Life | Su Vida

Newton was the first male cat we had in our family. So it was a whole new experience for me and my family. Since he was a little boy he was always very smart. He didn't have typical behavior like running away from home, being detached and independent like any other cat. He had a cute personality that showed a great affinity with me. He grew up without problems, always showing his love for us, to the point of softening our hearts.

Newton fue el primer gato macho que tuvimos en nuestra familia. Por lo tanto, fue toda una nueva experiencia para mi familia y para mí. Desde chiquito siempre fue muy inteligente. No tenía un comportamiento típico como escaparse de casa, ser despegado e independiente como cualquier otro gato. Tenía una personalidad linda que demostrando una gran afinidad conmigo. Creció sin problemas, siempre demostrando su amor por nosotros, hasta el punto de ablandar nuestros corazones.

And do you know why I tell you that he touched our hearts? Because his death marked a before and after in our lives and especially in my brother's life. He was a person who didn't like animals, he couldn't even touch them because they disgusted him. But since Newton arrived and started to grow up with us, this cat started to get closer to my brother, my brother gradually became more receptive and his behavior improved. His first approach with Newton was to pet him, then to give him his food, to be attentive to him and finally to let him climb on his legs. In the end, it was my brother who sought him out to spoil him, affectionately calling him TON for the last three letters of his name, and that's what we all called him sometimes.

¿Y saben por qué les digo que toco nuestros corazones? Porque su muerte marco un antes y un después en nuestras vidas y sobre todo en la vida de mi hermano. El era una persona que no le gustaban los animales, ni siquiera podía tocarlos porque le daba asco. Pero desde que Newton llegó y empezó a crecer junto a nosotros, este gato empezó a acercarse a mi hermano, mi hermano poco a poco fue tomando una actitud más receptiva, mejoro su comportamiento. Su primer acercamiento con Newton fue acariciarlo, luego darle su comida, estar pendiente de el y por último lo dejaba subir en sus piernas. Al final, ya era mi hermano quien lo buscaba para consentirlo, de cariño le decía TON por sus ultimas tres letras de su nombre, y así lo llamábamos todos a veces.

Newton never lacked the affection of my family or mine, he was undoubtedly a special cat for all of us. We even thought he was a puppy in a cat's body, because he behaved like that. He always waited for me at the door when I came home, accompanied me to do my homework, slept with me, among other activities. He was a very faithful cat and always showed love and affection to all of us.

A Newton nunca le falto el cariño de mi familia ni el mío, sin duda alguna era un gato especial para todos. Incluso todos pensábamos que era un perrito en un cuerpo de gato, porque se comportaba así. Me esperaba siempre en la puerta cuando llegaba a casa, me acompañaba a hacer mis tareas, dormía conmigo, entre otras actividades. Era un gato muy fiel y a todos nos demostró siempre amor y cariño.

By luck and hard work, Newton, my spoiled boy never lacked anything, he had the attention, care and affection of everyone who had the joy of knowing him. So far he has been the best pet I have ever had in my short life.

Por suerte y mucho trabajo a Newton, mi niño consentido nunca le hizo falta nada, tenía la atención, sus cuidados y el cariño de todos quienes tuvieron la dicha de conocerlo. Hasta ahora ha sido la mejor mascota que he tenido en mi corta vida.

Silent Disease | Enfermedad Silenciosa

Newton died at the age of 3 on June 29, 2020, his loss is still fresh in our minds. He got sick suddenly, we never thought this could happen to him. He did not show any symptoms, but only at the end when we discovered his illness. Newton murió a sus 3 años edad el pasado 29 de Junio del 2020, su perdida aún es reciente para nosotros. El se enfermo repentinamente, nunca pensamos que esto podría llegar a pasarle a el. No presento ningún síntoma, sino ya al final cuando descubrimos su enfermedad. My cat had a painful illness with a very sad end for all of us. He suffered a lot, since he convulsed more than 10 times, he had an abdominal tumor that could not be removed. The vet did an exploratory surgery and with that he determined that nothing could be done for him, only that we should offer him quality of life, love and that we should wait for his departure. He also told us that our cat was probably born with the tumor and it grew throughout his life, to the point of obstructing his digestive system and rectum, my boy could not go to the bathroom and much less wanted to eat.

Mi gato tuvo una penosa enfermedad con un final muy triste para todos. Sufrió mucho, ya que convulsionó más de 10 veces, tenia un tumor abdominal que no se podía extraer. El veterinario hizo una cirugía exploratoria y con eso determinó que no se podía hacer nada por el, solo que le ofreciéramos calidad de vida, amor y que esperáramos su partida. También nos dijo que probablemente nuestro gato había nacido con el tumor y fue creciendo a lo largo de su vida, hasta el punto de obstruir su sistema digestivo y su recto, mi niño no podía ir al baño y mucho menos quería comer.

His Last Minutes of Life | Sus Últimos Minutos de Vida

My cat spent his last minutes of life with us, I remember that I went to see him, because I thought I had not seen him for a while and I had to keep an eye on him, under observation since he was weak after the surgery. I arrived, I saw him and his breathing was already agitated, I called my mom and then my brother arrived and we surrounded him, I took his paw and I spoiled him until little by little he left. It was very hard and sad for us, but deep down I was relieved that he was already resting, since his illness was very aggressive.

Mi gato paso sus últimos minutos de vida junto a nosotros, recuerdo que yo lo fui a ver, porque pensé que ya tenía rato sin verlo y tenía que estar pendiente de el, bajo observación ya que se encontraba débil luego de la cirugía. Llegue, lo vi y ya su respiración estaba agitada, llame a mi mamá y luego llego mi hermano y lo rodeamos, tome su pata y lo consentí hasta que poco a poco se marcho. Fue muy duro y triste para nosotros, pero en el fondo tenía alivio de que ya estuviera descansando, ya que su enfermedad fue muy agresiva.
