Hi all pet lovers!
We recently moved house, we are still in the same city, but in a bigger apartment and in better conditions, the moves are always exhausting and stressful, you have to move a large amount of things in a very short period of time, it is incredible how many things we have and store throughout life.
For humans, changing homes involves endless tasks, storing your whole life in boxes, cleaning, ordering, moving all that amount of things, ordering, the madness of finding everything you saved, etc. So much so that it takes a little time to be aware and adapt to your new home even if you are not very aware.
Recientemente nos hemos mudado de casa, seguimos estando en la misma ciudad, pero en un piso mas grande y en mejores condiciones, las mudanzas siempre son agotadoras y estresantes, tienes que mover una gran cantidad de cosas en un plazo de tiempo muy corto, es increíble cuantas cosas tenemos y almacenamos a lo largo de la vida.
Para los humanos, cambiar de hogar supone un sinfin de tareas, guardar toda tu vida en cajas, limpiar, ordenar, mover toda esa cantidad de cosas, ordenar, la locura de encontrar todo lo que guardaste, etc. Tanto es así que tardas un pequeño tiempo en ser consciente y adaptarte a tu nuevo hogar aunque no seas muy consciente.
For pets it is different, in this case, for cats (as you already know I live with two little brothers who are almost 11 years old).
Cats are not at all friendly to change, in addition to being territorial animals, they like the habit of their favorite places and corners, and by sharpening their nails or rubbing their face in places, they leave a trace of what they recognize as home.
Big changes in their life, their environment and their routines can cause stress and anxiety in them, which can seriously affect their health.
This is something that worried me a lot, and in my last post for Hive Pets I already told you about Luna's liver disease, and I was terrified that either of us would feel anxiety when moving or in our new home.
Para las mascotas es diferente, en este caso, para los gatos (como ya sabéis convivo con dos hermanitos de casi 11 años).
Los gatos no son nada amigos de los cambios, además de ser animales territoriales, les gusta la costumbre de sus lugares y rincones favoritos, y al afilar sus uñas o frotar su cara en los sitios, dejan el rastro de lo que reconocen como su hogar.
Los grandes cambios en su vida, su entorno y sus rutinas pueden provocar estrés y ansiedad en ellos, lo que puede afectar seriamente a su salud.
Esto es algo que me preocupaba mucho, y en mi último post para Hive Pets ya os conté sobre la enfermedad hepática que padeció Luna, y me aterraba que cualquiera de los dos sintiera ansiedad en el momento del traslado o en nuestro nuevo hogar.
Little by little we were packing all our things while they were still in their usual places, the armchair, the cushion on the sofa... Although obviously they realized that something was happening, suddenly the house was upside down, many boxes and things in between, even them in some box :)
Riku continued as always investigating the things that changed and asking for love and attention at all hours.
On the other hand, Luna (who normally is not very active) spent more and more hours in her little cushion, just observing what was happening, but without putting much in the way.
Poco a poco fuimos empaquetando todas nuestras cosas mientras ellos seguían en sus sitios de siempre, el sillón, el cojín sobre el sofá... Aunque obviamente se daban cuenta de que algo estaba pasando, de repente la casa estaba patas arriba, muchas cajas y cosas por enmedio, incluso ellos en alguna caja :)
Riku seguía como siempre investigando las cosas que cambiaban y pidiendo cariño y atención a todas horas.
En cambio Luna (que normalmente no es muy activa) cada vez pasaba más horas en su cojincito, solo observando lo que estaba pasando, pero sin ponerse mucho por enmedio.
When they gave us the keys to the new apartment, we started with the arduous task of carrying all those boxes and uploading them to the new floor (up to the damn second floor) and boxes and more boxes and for three days we were moving all our lives, and leaving the previous one empty and clean house.
Riku and Luna were the last to leave the house, when it was time to get into the carrier, everything was fine, but when they put them in the van and during the few minutes of travel that separate one house from the other, they did not stop meowing pitifully, they combined with each other, a more serious meow was heard, and another more acute at the moment, and so on all the way until we finally arrived.
Cuando nos dieron las llaves del nuevo piso, empezamos con la árdua tarea de llevar todas esas cajas y subirlas al nuevo piso (hasta el maldito segundo piso) y cajas y más cajas y durante tres días fuimos moviendo toda nuestra vida, y dejando la anterior vivienda vacía y limpia.
Riku y Luna fueron los últimos en salir de casa, cuando llegó el momento de entrar en el transportín, todo iba bien, pero al meterlos en la furgoneta y durante los pocos minutos de viaje que separan una casa de la otra, no paraban de maullar de forma lastimera, se compaginaban entre ellos, se escuchaba un maullido más grave, y otro más agudo al momento, y así todo el camino hasta que al fin llegamos.
The first afternoon in the new home, Luna was somewhat scared and disoriented, she was not sure where to go, instead Riku was investigating the new home. One of the differences in our new home is that we now have a balcony, which we didn't have before, and they only looked out through the glass. The new balcony was a clear example of the difference in character between Riku and Luna, while he was curious, Luna barely got out for a few seconds until some noise from a passing car scared her enough to run back inside.
La primera tarde en el nuevo hogar, Luna estaba algo asustada y desorientada, no tenía muy claro adónde ir, en cambio Riku estaba en plan investigador del nuevo hogar. Una de las diferencias en nuestro nuevo hogar es que ahora tenemos un balcón, cosa que antes no había, y solo miraban hacia afuera a traves de los cristales. El nuevo balcón fue el claro ejemplo de la diferencia de carácter entre Riku y Luna, mientras a él le provocaba curiosidad, Luna apenas llegaba a salir unos segundos hasta que algún ruido de un coche al pasar la asustaba lo suficiente para volver corriendo adentro.
The days have passed and both have adapted very well, each at his own pace. Now they enjoy the sun on the balcony... Although if the noise is excessive, Luna continues to escape inside, where she feels safer, and little by little they are finding those places where they feel comfortable, such as their new corner or @neshk's chair :)
Los días han ido pasando y ambos se han adaptado muy bien, cada uno a su ritmo. Ahora disfrutan del sol en el balcón... Aunque si el ruido es excesivo Luna sigue escapando adentro, donde se siente más segura, y poco a poco están encontrando esos lugares donde se sienten cómodos, como su nuevo rincón o la silla de @neshk :)

They are my babies even though they are almost 11 years old and spent their whole life with me, and even today I find myself looking at them or photographing them for a long time. They are great company and make you laugh with their poses or their crazy things :)
