Is it possible to walk your cat? Well, that depends on who's the boss. As it turns out, you don't walk the cat, the cat walks you. In this case, Diablo demands royal treatment. I have to take him to the beach or all hell breaks loose.
I know cats feel content staying indoors where they will be safe from the cruelty of the outside world. Life's unfair yes? But I think cats should also be given equal opportunity to go outside and smell things (just like what us humans I mean dogs do), roll around the sand, and eat grass (Diablo likes weed so much). Okay, not all cats will like the idea of having human masters walking them around. But, who knows, maybe your cat is not that misanthropic. Just go out and let your cat take you for a walk on the beach or somewhere. Go get some sunshine with your pet and stop trolling on Twitter.
I can't leave him alone at home while I enjoy a fun day under the sun. The situation calls for my submission to the male species. So, I took Diablo to the beach for the first time. It was stressful for him so I had to make sure that I was always there for him. I went for a quick swim and he was meowing nonstop. I had to be in his plain sight or he'd go panicking. I was kind of worried because he might think the beach is a massive litter box or something. So I have the mesh pet carrier with me in case he needs to hide from passing humans. I need to be patient and understanding because the only world he knows is our world.
Most likely, cats won't magically let themselves be walked on a leash overnight. So before you start taking your cat outside, it is important that you first train your cat to walk on a leash indoors. When Diablo was still a very little boy, he was very naughty that I had to put him on a leash. Don't worry virtuous animal lovers, I didn't subject him to abuse nor totalitarian parenting style. I just wanted him to get used to the leash and harness. I travel sometimes and nobody could take care of him while I'm away. He'd be left for dead. It's best to teach him early on that this is going to be our life. Forever away from human beings.
You have to give some treats whenever the cat can walk some distance without struggle. Avoid pulling and dragging or the cat will be traumatized. Patience is the key! Then try taking the cat outdoors, preferably without the presence of predators like big dogs and ugly humans. Surround the cat with beauty.
When I took Diablo to the beach, some guy thought it's ridiculous. He looked at us and began randomly shouting "Why is he on a leash", like hello? Do you want my cat to run amok and start eating you? I don't want to be responsible for any casualties of this military training.
So yeah, expect to look ridiculous. But sometimes that is the point. If you look normal, would you want the commoners to just approach and harass you? I doubt my royal highness Diablo would even like the idea. Stay away from people.
Anyway, walking your cat is a win-win, you get exercise and the cat gets to eat some grass. Walking is one way to transform your scaredy cat into a diabolic cat.
Cat walk 👀
Diablo is the second black cat I saw on a leash this week! How strange:)
Really, more fun than should be allowed!
It's a sign !!
My friend in Minneapolis brings her cat to the coffee shop. She does it the same way you do, with a leash and a carrier as a backup in case the cat wants to hide.
After a few times, the cat was very comfortable at the coffee shop, and the total star of the show!
Yeah I am happy I can take my cat anywhere too.
You can also find out which people suck, because if you don't like cats, you probably suck.
Red flag for me !
