We received news from our neighbours this morning that they found our precious Mittens, dead in the driveway. It would seem life is out to get us at the moment and I find myself so emotionally drained that I can feel the sadness but I'm struggling to come to terms with the fact that he is gone... and was only with us for such an incredibly short amount of time. It's just so senseless. He brought us so much light in a time of intense darkness for our family.
Like Chai, Mittens came into our lives and was naughty as hell, but became a beloved member of our family. Chai was just over a year old when he was found dead in the bus lane, and now, almost exactly a year later, Mittens has been met with the same fate.
We are utterly devastated... @zakludick and I are shattered at the loss of our young fur-child and unsure of how to break the news to the children.
Lexi came to give us an unusual amount of love and cuddles this morning... I think she knows :(
At this point, it is extremely difficult to see the forest through the trees.
I hope to God that there is some reprieve for our family in the months and years to come as we have encountered one tragedy after another in a seemingly endless barrage.
Rest peacefully my boy. Know that you were loved with every atom in our bodies. You will never be forgotten.
He will be laid to rest in our garden, the same place as Chai.
