Just two stray kitten in a hallway... [Read it, if you care...]
You know when you take a short walk, close to home, and discover a reality that, although common, is detestable? I am referring to the situation of surviving on the streets that millions of kittens all over the world have to go through, at every moment... In my case, I came across two adorable street kittens, close to where I do my grocery shopping, and although they are well cared for by the people who do business there, it is no less true that this reality is neither easy to eradicate nor even less desirable for these little animals...
Many of them come into this world as a consequence of their parents' previous abandonment. They find themselves in a situation of survival from day one, and they have to wander in this environment... They approach humans who are noble and kind to them but shy away from all others. You can see in their faces that life has been neither easy nor good, but that through the kindness of some people, they have not only found food, shelter, water but also some love and protection from everything they encounter out there.
I wasn't planning to post anything about these street kittens, however, I can't lie to you, they have captured my empathy and my heart. Especially the one you see in the pictures with his cssits made of cardboard. It is located next to a video shop of pastries and confectionery and handmade cakes and cakes. He is a bit shy. It's normal, he doesn't know me, but he does have a personality that makes him very beautiful. I think he trusts humans. He let me feed him with a little bit of bread that I had just bought in the bakery just behind....
So I decided to stay with him for about ten minutes. I sat in the break in the hallway where his little cardboard house was located. I made sure he was OK, gave him a few strokes and talked to him a bit. I think the lady who looks after him, feeds him and looks after his safety is a kind of modern angel. Of all the animals we see on the streets of our cities, without a doubt, cats get the least consideration from others. They are seen as ‘pests’ or nuisances. And the truth is, they are in the situation they are in because of us, not so much because of them....
Life has ways of reminding us that it is not only about us (humans) and the problems. It is also about them, animals that are vulnerable and need our help, our cooperation but most of all our love. I don't even dare to ask everyone to adopt a kitten or a puppy from the street, no, but to respect their status as a living being and an animal with dignity. I applaud and am inspired by that angel who has brought a small, warm home to this blond, chubby, beautiful kitten from the aisles of the shopping centre. Obviously, the lady doesn't know me and doesn't have to, but her actions have a profound impact. May you, wherever you are, help those who need it so much; the kittens on your street.
