Ugh, I know that feeling all to well... We have lost Jo a couple of times in areas that are quite busy traffic wise. Back in the day she used to be a lot harder to catch than she is now. She never really responded to commands well either so if you tell her to come she just ignores you or looks at you like you are an idiot. Then you chase her and she thinks it is a game. I remember one time I just collapsed, we were visiting our inlaws in Columbus, OH and I was like this is it, she is going to get hit by a car. Another time I was out of town at a conference. My wife called in a panic late at night, Jo was staying at a different inlaws an they lost her. I was two hours away and couldn't do anything to help. We eventually learned that if you hopped in the car and asked her if she wanted to go for a ride she would jump right in. Now, she can't move very fast, so keeping up with her isn't too bad. We have a fenced back yard though.
That's a crazy story. Sucks worse when you're not home and can't do anything at all about it. If we fenced in our yard it would cost 25-30,000$ easy, so I'm not doing that. Maybe one of those super heavy chains 😆. Just kidding. Obviously. I thought of attaching one of those Apple chip finders on her collar so I could track her if it happens again, but then again we are up her butt right now. It really was a freak thing since she is never really out of our sight. Thank goodness all is okay now.
Haha, wow, yeah we are only on a 1/4 of an acre, so the fence thing wasn't too bad. Actually we just had a new one put in. White vinyl privacy, I think it was $6000 or so. They have those portable ones that people put around their pools. You could maybe do one of those to make just a small area for her to go in. At least in the winter. You are right, the important thing is that she is okay.
Yeah.. we have a bit more property than that, and no plans on fencing it in. lol. My neighbors are cool too. We shuffle back and fourth between properties. A fence would get in the way! hehehe. $6,000.00 is a good chunk of change. Bet it looks nice though and you didn't have to break your back putting it up!
Yeah, it is pretty cool. It keeps Jovi in check too. The funny thing is because we have a bi level our deck sits so high that you can see right over it. It doesn't really provide much privacy. Gotta get ready for the bomb cyclone that is supposed to hit us this weekend...
