Bassketball

Basketball is game played between two teams of five players each on a rectangular court,usually indoors.

Basketball game was introduced in the united State in 1891 by Dr. Jesse Naismith a physical and health education specialist. The earliest form of the game was played with a football with main objective of trying to get the basketball into the opponents basket.With time the game developed and became so popular that it was included in the 1936 Olympic competition, held in Berlin for both men and women. Nigeria basketball federation (N B F)was formed in 1965.
NATURE OF BASKETBALL GAME
Basketball is played by two teams of five players,the purpose of each team is to score into the opponents basket and prevent the other team from scoring the ball.The ball may be passed,thrown,tapped,rolled or dribbled in any direction.
The game should be played on a smooth or green grass court of 28m in tenth and 15m wide .The longer side should be known as Endline.
The court should be divided into two equal halves by the centre line.

RULES AND REGULATIONS IN
BASKETBALL
°The ball may not be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.
° The ball may be battled in any direction with one or both hands.
°The ball must not be held in or between the hands,the arms or body must not be used for holding the ball.
°No shouldering,holding, striking, pushing,trapping in any of an opponent.
°When the ball goes out of field of played by the first person touching it.
°The time shall be two to fifteen minutes halves,with five minutes rest between.
°The side making the most points in the game is declared winner.
° If either sides makes three,it shall be count a goal for the opponents in the main time making a fail.

REFEREE:
•He is the boss of the court,his decision on the rules of the game is final.
°He assigns duty to other officials .
°He pronounce time out.
°He inspect and approve all equipment to be use.

UMPIRE:
•Is the assistant referee.
°his duty in the game is as that of the referee.
°he help to put the ball in to play .
°he allows time out.
°he makes decisions in the ball.
°he allows substitution to come into the court.

SCORE:
°He record names and members of all the players taking part in the game.
°He inform the nearest officials at the
substitution of player.
°He announce the Points scored,to the referee.
°He records the timeout for each team.

TIME KEEPER:
•His duty is to keep the time.
°He starts keeping the Time when the. referee signals for the start of the game.
°He records time of stop ages.
°He noticed the timeout.
